Having considered all the facts, and responses on here, I have to say I believe there's currently zero chance of the season being changed.
Sky, Wembley, etc, all have a big say these days and, after previously massive disruption, they won't want a repeat.
Wigan have shot themselves in the foot by believing themselves more important than they are.
Their owner has allowed his own sense of self importance to get the better of him ...

Can’t blame him for trying something like this and he might just get his way who knows.

He's already put it and it's not that compelling at all tbh.
His main claim is that playing 3 games a week is 'unhealthy' for players, despite players first team regulars in the cup competitions.
I assume he's also aware of the World Cup and Euros when players compete at the highest level in game after game.
I think we managed to play more games after Xmas last season than they are moaning about, but we just got on with it.
I meant was his reasoning for the cancellation of Wigan’s fixtures compelling?? If they had no choice and COVID was running riot then that’s the governments call not Wigan’s. I certainly wouldn’t be happy if we were put at a disadvantage because of something like this.
It’s all very vague though as the mags played a game against Man United, no problems. The two genuine injuries to plays (not COVID) and their next game is cancelled.
A lot of it doesn’t make sense.
Someone on twitter made the point that we were last season. 4 games off over the Xmas period. At the number of games Wigan have now played, last season we had another 34 to play. Wigan currently have 27 I believe.
If that’s the case then I don’t see how anything can be done to help Wigan, i get their gripe but if a precedent set regarding us last season then they will surely just have to box on.
The problem with that mate is that we didn't whinge like ****ing schoolgirls to the EFL
I'm unclear on the rules that state which players can be utilised within the Club, beyond say the U23's and below etc.
However, I'm confident that if Wgan dropped out of the top six (before all their fixtures were completed) but they then secured a play-off place before playing their last fixture, I bet they would then play their last fixture with a piss poor weak team - to save their best for the actual play-off matches.

It's a minimum of 27 mate. 25 League Games plus at least 1 in the FA cup and 1 in the Pizza cup. If they progress further in these two cups it could be a lot more. Here's hoping they beat Stoke in the next round of the FA Cup and romp the Papa Johns!
If it gets as high as 29, that averages out at an extra game every 2 weeks compared with us.
I think we need to make a statement asking the EFL for clarity to cement it, as in if an option or possibility exits we will consider our options when we hit the required nunbers with covid to call games off, rather than using youth players etc as best we can to get games played.
More dont want to jump of this bandwagon ffs, incredibly frustrating teams voted to not finish a season year before last....now clubs (dont thing wigan were in this league?? but you get the point) are starting to ask for a season extension.
if any club who voted to end the season asks to postpone our games we want to kick a fuss up & start pointing these things out that we have concerns they may fail to fulfil the fixtures at a later date.
we are to nice at times & need to be more aggressive

It should have been extended as its not fair on us because we arnt the ones calling the games off To be fair i think we can play 3 games a week and still win this league, cant defend you men and that will show come the end of the season
No it shouldn't be. Rotate the squad like everyone else. Stop bitching.
