Sunderland AFC’s Sky Bet League One fixture against Fleetwood Town at the Stadium of Light has been postponed.

On Tuesday, FTFC informed the EFL that it would be unable to fulfil the scheduled fixture on 2nd January, 2022 due to a number of positive COVID-19 cases in their squad.

All at SAFC wish those affected a full and timely recovery.

The fixture will now be rescheduled and supporters are advised that tickets for the original fixture will remain valid.

SAFC's fixture against Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday 30th December has not been affected at this moment in time and we thank fans for their continued support and understanding.

Ah, wanted to take the lad to that one. 13.00 KO would have been ideal. Good for the squad to recover though.

Weren't Wigan due to play Fleetwood?
If so and that games cancelled as well that's another fixture for them to fit into an increasingly congested calendar

Just a thought, would they have called off the two fixtures away to Wigan and us if these two fixtures had been at home to two lowly placed teams. instead of away to two highly placed teams.

I was thinking similar myself. Wigan are stacking an awful lot of football into the 2nd half of the season.

If a club had 7 injuries then picked up another 4 over the match and training they would have to play on.

It's a ****ing farce if these are 'normal' injures and the league are allowing postponements. They should have to play on and only count covid cases as the reason. Does Willis count as an injury or a Covid case for us? Can we double count him as both? There is some absolute ****e that goes on in this ****ing league. There is nee ****er in charge, clubs taking the piss and doing what they want.

If a club had 7 injuries and another 4 picked up a vomiting bug or had the ****s that kept them out for a week or so they wouldn't get to postpone matches.
