I doubt it, but even with our less than perfect system I'd rather be subject to the British system rather than the American one.

Yes he did kill four people, but it seems to have been an accident (he lost control of the vehicle, but unfortunately the vehicle was a massive truck) and has got 110 years in prison. Why the weird number? Apparently he received the minimum sentence on every charge, and there were a lot of charges. So many problems with this, not the least is that the sentencing was effectively out of the judges hands. Apparently there are a large number of people in prison in the states that are not even counted in the massive "life sentence" numbers, because they have sentences like this which are technically not life sentences, but are for so long they can't possibly survive them.
I watched the Liverpool game yesterday and, although I won’t argue that they deserved to go through for their second half performance alone (no idea what Rodgers was doing with those changes and subs, Liverpool totally wiped the floor with them), they’re getting away with some game-changing decisions.
Konate went into a challenge very recklessly and late on Iheanaco and didn’t even get a booking, when it was a clear foul. I’ve seen red cards for less…
Then Jota swings his elbow and smashes Luke Thomas in the chops - right in front of the linesman - and they play on

To top it all off, Kelleher was off his line for both penalty saves from Bertrand and Thomas so, in theory, should have been retaken.
The saddest part is, even if VAR was enabled for the last round, I still don’t know if the Liverpool players would be punished because of Klopp’s outburst about referees/officials a few days prior.

Oddly enough most of this was missing from the match reports I read. Mind you, someone will probably mention "Kane's red card" again today.

Are you joking? First one is a clear elbow to the face. You have to be utterly blinkered to not think an elbow to the face is a straight red. Granted, the angle on that video isn’t great, but the replays on TV were conclusive. It’s a red.
Second incident is a red, whether he’s a young lad or not. He didn’t get booked. Should have been off.
Konate went into the tackle with his foot off the floor and quite high. Not necessarily a straight red, but I’ve seen reds given for less, so he can count his lucky stars he didn’t even get a foul given against him for it.
I don’t really care about Liverpool or Leicester so I can watch these incidents with objectivity. You absolutely got the rub of the green in that match yesterday.
I’m not sure of the correlation of the us justice system. There can be a third way that isn’t as harsh as them for some crimes but not as pathetic as us.
People in the uk constantly commit disgusting crimes and receive lenient sentences.

I'd have to disagree about Kelleher on the penalties, though.
Slowed it down to 0.25 speed on Youtube and he's got a foot on or behind the line for each save.
Firmino actually runs backwards on his though, so that shouldn't have stood.
I was reading about this the other day and it's not as straightforward as that.
Leaving aside the bloke's decision not to turn off, his sentence might not stand.
There's some odd thing where they have to wait 90 days, then ask the judge to reassess it.
He'll almost certainly get a vastly reduced sentence.
Seems like a stupid way to do things to me, but what do I know?

Ramos does a Ramos. I'm not sure that's a red though, to be honest. Just stands there.
Is he trying to block the run? Yes, but he's not required to move out of the way, surely?

I've literally been trawling over social media to find a clearer replay of Jota's elbow on Thomas. It's incredible that I can't find anything better than what I've posted. The fact it happened right in front of the linesman too, without being penalised, is suspect. Likewise with the Konate challenge on Albrighton. The commentators were saying it was quite a dangerous/reckless attempt at a challenge and were anticipating a free-kick at the very least. Nope. Nada. And there's absolutely no video footage, other than people's comments about it, on Twitter et al. It is bizarre.
What baffles me more than the lack of cards is that none of them were even given as fouls, and play was allowed to continue like nothing had happened. Leicester players (understandably) tried to argue with the referee when the ball went out of play in the next phase(s), but he just ignored them.
