Not what's being advertised but maybe no choice for the immediate future.

I can't see how he can come in and do much else other than stabilise the defence and build it up as anything else will run through the players like a dose of salts due to the amount of games required to be played.

    a) the players need to be fit
    b) the players need to be well drilled in the finer details. People miss just how fine a system we have where a player looks a genius intercepting in areas but is all coached and trained.
    c) he is going to hit the diet, sleep, physiotherapy staff, etc etc at utd. if the thing isn't right it has to be set right.

in comparison at chelsea really you had a team who were coached by conte and others in 343 and lampard comes in a disrupts rudiger and others. Tuchel walks in and within about 6 weeks they are impossible to score off. When you've azpi, silva and rudiger who know every trick in the book and kante and jorginho to go in front then you are building off a geat base.

I just don't see that base and man utd over the past 6 months. Fernandes yes. busy player who it should suit. Ronaldo, no, rashofrd, hasn't covered himself in glory. Slab head, no, shaw, no, awb, no. mctominay, no, pogba HELL NO and so on.

my premise here is gengenpress and a full on one. This is klopp but less successful coming in here to do this hving been a semi retired director of football. The defenders should be all over their oppoenets 1 on 1 and there to stopthe fast counter while the rest are piling on.

Can you imagine slab head v salah in a one on one?

IMO man utd have handed him maybe 50% of the tools needed. IMO he will try to solidify the defence and then work on set piece goals and compomise on what they do in transition.

they've dropped AWB and shaw now. Teele and dalot are in. but they've gone a 4222 formation, quite narrow with fred and mctominay sat there as lumps so that secures the slab head at the back and the panickly lindeloff. Sancho, fernades, ronaodo and rashford as the front men to do this pressing. so far this guy has hauled off forwards and stuck in greenwood etc as subs to keep going which suggests to me he can already see the fitness isn't where he will want it.

Theres no way he gets a tuchel bounce here. but he can and will improve them on the miserable levels handed to him. I would contend the game he wants requires a full on preseason and a couple windows to change the players to the types needed.

If we win Thursday we will have survived another season in the prem.

    The magic 40 points.

this will then allow us have a 60th anniversary in the top flight.

1962/63 was when we were first in the top flight under shanks yeah? I'm sure some remember this.

That's right. I heard something recently re. Shankly joining the club in 1959 when we were in div. 2 and the ground was in a poor state.
Apparently there wasn't even running water at Anfield at the time <yikes>
Shanks took us back up in to the 1st div. in 62' and we were champions 2 years later.

40 pts or 45 pts? I think you're celebrating prematurely. We might be relegated still.. :bandit:

i think only once in the history of the prem has a club gone down on 40points. west ham in 02/03 was 42 points.

It is in fact "the exception that proves the rule"

please note the above includes 42 game seasons at the outset.

We like breaking records though. Highest points not to win. Highest points relegated could be next.

Will be an interesting January. I'm sure you'll have money to throw about, but will many players be willing to risk getting relegated?

We might aswel just plan for the championship depending on the situation come Jan 1st, but it's likley we'll be cut adrift by then so signing bigger names will be impossible.

    It's the long haul

Yeah, doesn't change overnight. City were still mediocre for a number of season after they won the lottery, but few people bet against them doing well now.

It's all changed now since the city takeover too. They've up more obstacles and there's more clubs with rich owners.

Good. City and chelsea were allowed to take the fuking piss with it.

Bout time they stopped boyband clubs coming from nowhere and getting the xmas number one without earning it through shewd recruitment, good management and an identity that runs from tip to bottom, thats respectable.

Spending billions plus to get there =tramp vibes
