There is also a secondary element: their CL squad is at 25. If they bring someone in, they need to clear a roster spot, and the two most likely players to be removed are DvdB and Juan Mata. It might benefit them to loan him out even while subsidizing some of his wages if it allows for a transfer in (and delays selling DvdB for a cut-rate price after 18 months of scarcely playing).
Did they completely fill the 25 man squad? I assume yes but not every club has 25 players that meet the criteria. Even the big ones. I assume they do though

I’m just thinking back to my Football Manager days where I focused on trying to find quality young players and some of those don’t count !
His contract is up on the summer I believe. Was very highly rated when he was younger at Chelsea and seems to be a consistent performer at Championship level.
Highlights make him look very impressive. Seems to have a more all round game than A Armstrong and looks like he can handle himself. I was thinking he was a like a cross between Tiss and SRL.
