Stratton describes herself as a ‘Johnson Tory’, is godparent to Sunaks kids (and vice versa), and is described as an ‘ally’ of Mrs Johnson. Politics in this country, particularly I suspect Conservative politics, seems very similar to strategic manoeuvring amongst the aristocracy during the Middle Ages, forming blood bonds and ‘alliances’, switching allegiances as the opportunity for self promotion arises, making supposed sacrifices to gain credit for future benefits. All outside this febrile nest of incestuous plotting are treated as what they are - chattel, counters to be gambled with and then ignored, especially as it becomes clearer and clearer that blind obedience and unquestioning support is the defining characteristic of a certain type of English person - but not of those who make up the inner circle. Are we yet at the stage that our leaders deliberately do more and more outrageous, corrupt and inexcusable **** in plain sight simply to generate the chance to deny it on telly and see how much they can get away with? Possibly, but it doesn’t matter, because they can get away with anything. One thing they don’t seem to have is actual friends. Just ‘allies’. The Labourites are more like the ever more splintered and doctrinaire Protestant factions arising out of the reformation, ideology with a religious tinge, all in possession of the single one truth…..they haven’t got any friends either, just members of the congregation, constantly under threat of being accused of heresy.
That is how it will be played out. Boris will be outraged that he knew nothing about it. A few Downing St employees will be mildly reprimanded, and by then Russia will have invaded Ukraine, China will have invaded Taiwan and Macron will have lost his presidency - and so parties? What parties?
Oh Ellers I am so stupid, believing Twitter that 10 Downing street was where the PM lived... I have now checked...he lives at 23 Railway Cuttings East Cheam or is that the ex minsiter of Health..can't tell the difference
It's more than that. The PM has a flat upstairs. Many functions/meetings/dinners happen there which the PM doesn't know about. Unless you are now saying this party took place in his bedroom?
I really do appreciate it is a big house. Guess what ... SHOCK HORROR EXPOSE Samantha Cameron invited me to a party at No 10 ...and I went and we had wine and cheese and canapes, and I got shown round the general area and the private apartments. SO speaking as possibly the only person on here that has been to a party at no10...it is not that big that the private appartments would not really know whhat was going on
It’s not that I don't believe it's serious and yes It does P me off when people break the rules when we have obeyed but in this case it wasn't Boris, he wasn't there and the person in question has now quit. If he was there then it's a different story. It must be getting desperate for some who drag up these year old stories... Still it keeps the lefties happy.
No. I’m saying it took place in his ****ing house. It’s fanciful to suggest that could happen, against the law, without him being aware of it unless he was plastered which is highly possible.
Watford why are you still going on about this? The women in question has quit, Boris didn't know about it and there are other important things going on in this country to worry about. As I said all the lefties will want to keep this going but in 2-3 weeks there will be something else to worry about
Realistically, the PM does not stay home watching box sets, even in lockdown. He'll be out and about on his duties, so it there was an informal cheese and wine party at 6.00pm before people went home, he probably wouldn't know about it.
Because us plebs were told to follow the rules set out and missed incredibly important events in our lives to do so or risked massive fines so forgive me if I don’t accept your apologist routine.
The Pope has likened the European Union to a dictatorship after they try to ban words like "Christmas" and "Christian".
I know the relationship of where the party was probably held to where Sam Cameron's private apartments were Ellers...so possibly a bit more I also know, there was a video camera system at the entry and a signing in book. A a number for huge great policemen in the enterance area (plus security that I did not see). It will be easy to know who was in no10 that day/night and what time they left
I listened to a reporter tonight who said so much goes on in No10 and a lot of the time Boris is away and has no idea. When the cameras are outside No 10 you always see people going in and out. My late mother worked there in the 80s-90's under Mrs Thatcher government and she would always say people/military would be shuffling around all day. I think some believe that Boris and Carrie own the place and it's some sort of 2 up 2 down.
I think Larry the Downing Street cat gives a false concept of idyllic domesticity. Actually, No 10 is, as you say, a big and active office, and Boris is usually not in residence.
The way this government and in particular, this PM is performing, they should be bottom of every poll by 20%. The opposition should be flying high on a tide of popularity. The fact that none of this is happening is a massive clue as to the calibre of most politicians at present. Why is it that so many opponents of the Tories so often say, "they'd still get voted in if there was an election tomorrow"? It can't be the stock answer that the media are all pro Tory. All I ever see or hear on every mainstream media outlet like the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky is this government and Boris being absolutely destroyed. All I see on Social Media is the same. Even so called right wing papers have been highly critical. Starmer and Co just aren't cutting it. As Ubes said recently, there's nothing there to vote for anymore. We have never needed a decent centre left alternative more.
