I know that area well. I used to go down there a lot, not for the clothes but for something else. I've heard of folk being locked in the shops and all sorts. It's carnage around there every day.Wonder what this is about

It's an absolute nightmare to drive down (not because of violence), people just stop literally in the middle of the road and go in a shop because the parking spaces are full, no sense and no ****s given.
It's definitely 3rd world mentality.

I pulled up one day and the mad ****er had a box of 4 grenades in his boot to see if I was interested in them. £250. Bargain tbf but I didn't fancy a drive to Newcastle with them rolling about the ****ing boot

On the road thing, i was going from Bury towards Manchester one day. A woman two cars in front stopped with her right indicator on and i'm thinking "what's she doing there's no road to turn into".
A man coming the other way stopped and flashed her to do a U turn (great we are moving again). What happened next was hilarious, as i moved on i heard a horn blasting, she had done a U turn gone back about 4 shops and parked up in the middle of the road and gone in a shop. The guy blasting his horn was the guy that let her in.
I was still laughing when i arrived on site behind the Fort

The ironic thing is it ****ing borders Strangeways prison. I used to always visit a gaff that was facing it and I always come out looking at the cells having a smirk about it all. I've been there once when the feds have turned up. That's an eye-opener what happens then...

Until we get tough on knife crime and people carrying knives, these kids are going to continue killing one another, how many more deaths do we endure before we do something?

They need to make mandatory sentences of a minimum 10 year for anybody caught carrying a blade. Life is becoming less and less valued with the next generation. I hate knives with a passion. Proper cowards tool. You don't stand a chance against them.
Horrible, yes. As for making punishments harsher... Studies show that harsher punishments make very little difference in crime rate.
People are no less likely to commit crime the harsher the sentence (beyond a point anyway). What does make them less likely is if they think they're more likely to get caught. (Spending more money in enforcement rather than punishment).
Longer sentences only help with the feeling about "revenge on the criminal"... Putting someone away longer doesn't undo the crime... And of it doesn't make people less likely to commit the crime it gives no benefit... Instead you're paying more taxes keeping someone locked away longer just for revenge.
More cops on the street is a better way of spending law enforcement money than more money to prisons to lock people away longer.
Child abusers in England and Wales could face life in jail under tougher sentencing plans unveiled by ministers.
It follows a campaign for Tony's Law by the adoptive family of seven-year-old Tony Hudgell, who had both legs amputated following abuse.
Justice Secretary Dominic Raab said the legislation would provide "maximum protection to the most vulnerable".
Tony's adoptive mother Paula Hudgell, of King's Hill, Kent, said she was "delighted" at the announcement.
Under the plans, the maximum jail sentence for those who cause or allow a child's death will increase from 14 years to life imprisonment.
Sentences are also set to go up from 10 to 14 years for people who cause serious harm to children.

To the bit I've highlighted what are your suggestions?
Are you happy to sit down with relatives of somebody who has been murdered and tell them there's no point in locking the murderer up because it's going to cost the tax payer and its just an act of revenge so its pointless?
In theory, at least, our punitive system is supposed to rehabilitate rather than be a system of revenge.
It's actually not that unusual for family of murder victims to make "no punishment is going to bring them back" statements. Others are angry AF and want revenge... Which they may want it,.but I don't support wasting a hundred grand a year that could be used on other things just to prop up someone's desire for revenge. (Which would probably be cooled off by the time the normal sentence is up anyway).
Probably more to do with keeping the people who want to carry knives off the street.
It may not prevent them originally carrying if they have a harsher sentence, but it certainly keeps the ones caught off until they are re-released.
At the moment, they probably get a slap on the hand and told not to be a naughty boy and there out the next day carrying more knives
I read as part of Oscar Pistorius’ sentence/early release he has to sit down with his bird’s parents (insert leg amputation/not like he can stand up joke) which apparently is standard in South Africa and seems a fair part of the rehabilitation / giving relatives closure process.
There's also something called justice.
If you don't support locking people up because you think that's about revenge you need to go further and give your suggestions on how you deal with it because to me it looks like you don't support locking murderers, rapists, *****s or any other criminal up. What would you do with them when they commit their crimes?
