As much I as I really would like to see Johnson do well I just can’t see anything changing in the next few weeks. I agree with you regarding Ipswich, can see us shipping a few goals.
I want Johnson to succeed because I want this club to be successful and I want KLDs vision to work. On the face of it, it feels like a huge overreaction to losing 4 games but the manager has history with us and with previous clubs to suggest that this slump won't be the last one.

Perfect time to get rid if we are. 2 weeks till next league game, and not too far away from January window for a new coach to make improvements.

Whilst we have had a lot of manager turnover in the last decade or so, it's actually different now. Before, we would change manager and with it, playing style and preferred formation a lot of the time, meaning the playing squad was always square pegs in round holes to an extent.

The good thing with the new structure is, we just employ a coach that has the same style (attacking) and the values and long term plan are in place for Speakman and KLD etc. It makes changing a coach a much simpler transition than we have seen previously.

If we DID get rid of Johnson I wonder if we could prise Paul Warne away from Rotherham. Seems very well thought of and has had success in the league.

Here’s the deal, a team is lacking in confidence, whose highly paid job is it to ensure it doesn’t affect results? If they have been bothered by some words on social media and let’s be honest it’s hardly been horrific, then they don’t have the mentality to play football. Would they wilt if they had a bit of sledging on the pitch
In reality, if he isn’t blaming fans, he’s blaming the players for lacking mental strength.
It’s the easiest thing in the world to hold your hand up and say “ yes it’s my fault”, then continue to do the same **** with the same results. Prior to today he reckoned we had learned, he said he could smell the Charlton defeat and it wouldn’t happen again. Well it has another 3 times now
The performances are unacceptable and certainly not of someone who has learned. He told us when we were flying that we would only get better as the season progressed. He was talking ****e then as well by the look of it
Wherever you go, not just in football, the mentality is set from the top. Is it the players who lack the mental strength or LJ? I suspect the mentality would be different if they were walking off the pitch to face a certain Mr Keane for example. Clear expectations and being held accountable certainly focuses the mind. Btw I’m not suggesting we get Keane back, we’ve moved on a long way since then.

I would prefer us hammering Ipswich but can’t see it. I think we are just drawing the inevitable out.
Zero chance of that. I love a gamble, hate backing against our own but if Ipswich are better than 2/1 it’ll be a cracking investment. They’ll beat us.

Personally I want him gone. He’s not a winner. We need winners. He has an underdog “lets try really hard” mentality. He seems a great guy and I don’t mind the management consulting lingo (I am one!).

But my gut tells me he has one more game. Lose the next game and I can’t see a way out. Even if he wins it, I think he’s done. And no promotion this season even if he somehow hangs on will be it for him.

He hasn’t directly started blaming fans yet - but there have been a few minor hints of him suggesting the fans should cut him some slack. And that never ever ever ends well.

FWIW not so worried about 4 defeats in a row (or whatever it is now, I’ve tried to zone out).

I’m more worried about the manner of the defeats. If you lose 4 games and the players look out of form, then you back them and trust they’ll turn it right. But we’ve seen nothing to suggest this is just a form issue. Seems much more like teams have sussed out how we play and we have no way of changing it to work.

Still don't think KLD will have any Knee Jerk reactions to this as he has maintained he is looking at the longer picture, that said, if the game against Ipswich looks like its going tits up, then the atmosphere inside the SOL will get caustic very quick. Sunderland is no place to be for a manager under fire. We will then see what KLD "long term plans" look like

Can someone explain wtf is going on?

Has LJ had a fall-out /clash with Speakman and/or players?

Is this anything to do with why Dickman is also out , or has he just jumped for the money?

Sacking a manager at this point of the season may not attract a manager of credibility. There's a growing feeling that some managers, like Bruce, are just playing the system.

I don't want us to become a club whereby managers arrive with the intention of being sacked, blaming the club/fans and walking off with our money and credibility.

We're in danger of gaining a reputation as fans that isn't attractive imo.

Genuinely can’t believe he’s still in a job.
Me neither, prehab posted yesterday that some top brass who weren’t at the game yesterday were flying in today so hopefully something happening later.

It’s the way we’re losing games though mate. We’ve been absolutely humped by Portsmouth, Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday and then showed absolutely no fight against relegation threatened Charlton and bloody Mansfield Town. We’ve scored one goal in 5 games.

It’s terminal now and he can’t turn this around in my opinion. Even if he stays in a job and results improve I’ll be wondering when the next disgraceful run of form will begin. There seems to be absolutely no warning when it will occur either, it’s not like performances gradually start to tail off, it’s literally one extreme to the other. One week we’re winning 5-0 away from home the next we’re getting hosed 3 times in a week in desperate circumstances, I’ve never seen anything like it.

Don’t know how true it is but was mentioned on the other forum that it’s all started going wrong since the new coach has came in, jevons.

Cheers. The timing of it definitely stacks up with the decline in performances.

let’s see what comms /decisions come out of the club next week.
