Ralph said it all, only complaint was that Saints only scored one goal

This is going to be a slow burner of a season. There will some good performances, some bad but there will be more good than bad. The frustration will be that the scores won't always match the performances.

At least we can be reasonably confident that we will try to play attractive football, which having somewhat reluctantly renewed my ST, is all I ask for really.

KWP or Salisu motm for me. The latter just keeps getting better and better. Thought Mo El had his quietest game for a while and didn't have much impact.

Thought Che looked good with his hold up play for the first time in quite some time though he tired in the second half. Excellent finish too. Was also encouraging to see Redders have another decent game, particularly as he started further back than in the past two games.

I also thought Armstrong was much improved in terms of his general play. Finishing woeful though.

Atmosphere was excellent though **** me do we need some more songs. Thought Watford fans were poor.

Wouldn't mind seeing their first half chance again. Initial reaction is that it was poor from Alex? Obviously made up for it though.

Only slight concern is that we missed so many chances and won by an individual bit of skill, and I can't help feel a better side would have punished us.

I'll absolutely take it though and this puts us in a excellent position going forward. Delighted to finally break my curse too :)

I also think Ralph is right when he says we're getting stronger. I think slowly but surely, Ralph is implementing his style on the players. Now if we could just get some investment Ralph could take us to a trophy and I genuinely believe that.

I agree. The way has us playing and the new signings he has brought in are all top notch.

Can only imagine what he could do with some money behind him.
I really don’t understand the minority that don’t like him.

Now onto the big talking point. Is the home kit better with red shorts or black?

Black for me, Clive. But there’s a lot of tweets flying around saying the red shorts make it look better.

I do to an extent because of the wretched run we went on. But at the same time, he's had us playing some stunning football - back end of 19/20 season into the first half of last season. I've said all along patience is required here.

Black for me. I don't mind red on the odd occasion but black shorts feels more like a proper Saints kit to me.

Redders MOTM for me closely followed by KWP. Salisu would have got my MOTM but for a few too many passes that were intercepted or off target. Defensively he's as good as we've had since VVD

So, despite our sluggish start to the season, after 10 games we are just the 6 points outside the Champions League places.
Might be 9 points after West Ham’s game tomorrow, but it makes you realise that things aren’t so bad.

He did have a few wayward passes but a lot of his good stuff was absolutely vital to seeing out the win which is why I had him so high.

Agree completely with your last sentence.

Table is very tight between 4th and 16th.

We need to remember he's 22 in his first proper season in the PL. His passing will improve with experience.

Another great performance from the Saints. So many chances created and not taken being the positive and negative. Watford didn't have any answers today and offered little yet I have been so accustomed to seeing us drop points that I was very nervy at the end. Great call from Ralph to go to 3 CBs, calmed and controlled the long lobs that Watford were relying on. Definitely wasn't an easy game a classic example of a game of inches. We just edged it, first to the ball by fractions of a second which was enugh to control and dominate the first two thirds of the game. Another good one to watch, no complaints at all and how did Adams, hit that ball out from under his feet so well?? Cracker.
