I wonder if Spurs will go for Potter when Nuno is inevitably sacked.

I actually think that would be a smart move, Potter would be a great appointment.

It's a funny old game, today's results proof of that.

If Newcastle aren't careful they'll be cut adrift by January and no amount of money will save them.

    This is indeed the hope.

That and Spurs sacking Nuno, then finding no-one above park footy level wants the job.

And no players will want to join them - players or managers.

They'll be forced to choose between Hughes or Allerdyce.....

I don't know how much it will affect what sort of managers will be interesting in joining (eg a manager could always just resign after 6 months, and some won't be interested in a relegation battle regardless of deep into it they are). But yes, the next couple of months could have a huge impact on which players will be interested.

I've been wondering how far adrift they need to fall, before we have to stop assuming that January will save them. The current gap of three points is nowhere near good enough. But seven points? Or ten? Or does it need to be even more?

There's only so big the gap can become though, because the likes of Watford and Burnley are hardly going to start performing like Chelsea.

I guess it depends on what their budget really is in January and who they will sign

And how well scouted people are. If they go for players from Spain and Germany with reasonable contractual release clauses or from the cash strapped French league they might do ok is say 3 players out of say 5 or 6 hit the ground running. For example I believe our Salisu fee was his release clause

not sure how much the new Brexit linked work permit situation will hurt here

But if they look to the U.K. they will get absolutely bent over a barrel. For example tarkowski has been mentioned a few times and they’d be stuck paying massively over the odds even though he only has 6 months left. Or big money for Lingard who did well in a very good side but might not exactly fire in a poor one

and paying over the odds in January will matter because I don’t think it is quite “money no object”

I wonder if a bigger concern would be them handing tens of millions to other premier league rivals - like the tarkowski example

Apparently there were touching scenes whereby Lallana got to say a proper goodbye to Liverpool fans.

I see Hojbjerg got sent out to do the ‘that was a terrible home performance’ post match interviews. Presumably because he’s got so much experience of doing those

Michael Oliver really should have sent off Evans. Not sure why VAR didn't intervene either.
