Sunday 9pm Horror Channel (Sky 317, Freeview 68)
 BLACK DEATH

Starring Sean Bean and Eddie Redmayne.

Not sure which is playing George Floyd and which is playing Derek Chauvin. There must surely be plenty of Yorkshire Tea if everything’s done proper.

I've seen the prequel, a very good film about Covid... Masque of the Red Death. Vincent Price plays China.

Midnight Mass is OK. Far from excellent tbf.

Those expecting it to be a creepy horror like the excellent The Haunting of Hill House will be disappointed, but what it turns into is far deeper.

A really well worked story turning religion on its head and showing how fumdamentalism is unable (or unwilling) to tell the difference between good and evil. I thought it was excellently done. Even the whole 'road to damascus' story to make him believe he had followed in the footsteps of something holy. Well thought out.

It's pretty much a complete Stephen King rip off. It's The Mist, Salem's lot and Needful Things all rolled into one. As I said, it's OK. Seen it all before tbh.

Yeh well we've pretty much seen everything all before. You could say the same about Squid Game and Hunger Games and The Running Man.

So well you're wrong <ok>

I'm wrong about what? I said it's OK. I binge watched the Sunday it came out so I must have thought it interesting. I just didn't find it at all original. An island community is set upon by nasty no gooders and turn against each other! I haven't checked but I'd be surprised if it wasn't set in Maine tbh.

This ensemble seem to have big money behind them and while The Haunting of Hill House, Bly Manor and this are undoubtedly well made there is very little original about them. Mike Flanagan, who directs all three has also done a couple of King adaptations ffs. Midnight Mass is so Kingish I'd be surprised if he doesn't receive royalties for it.

Sorry but thems the facts. You think it's excellent, I don't. We are allowed to disagree.

Oh and by the way Mike Flanagan's adaptation of Gerald's game is very good. Check that out.

It's not all facts but fair enough, we can disagree.

I saw clips of Gerald's game year or two ago. Didn't really appeal to me enough to watch it.

Anyway have you seen The Wailing on Prime. It's excellent... no it really is <ok>

(Bet you've seen it and tell me it's ok <laugh>)

Nope, not seen it. Will give you my well informed opinion when I do though.

Anyone watch Squid yet? **** off Mon with your "I'm sure some people have".

I like Mon.
I haven't, but I need watch, "I Care A Lot" last week. I couldn't hear it all because of my kids, but yes it was very good. I knew she was going to get shot at the end though, reminded me a bit of the end of Layer Cake.

Ah yeah, you only got around to that now! It was decent enough all the same.
