Put simply, Gone Baby Gone is a masterpiece. It's quite incredible when you consider it was Ben Affleck's debut as a director.

It just fails to win the mantle of the best Lehanne adaptation because Mystic River is perfect.

Shutter Island is pretty good anaw.

On Tuesday night on Channel 4, there was surely the most Woke episode of “Celebrity Gogglebox” ever made. All of the ‘Celebrities’ were BAME. I only recognised about four of them. Old morning TV fossil Rusty Lee was with someone called Derek, who I think was either a TV fitness guru or a Gladiator. I am pretty certain that Maya is a Radio 1 DJ called Maya Jama and Tinie is a rapper called Tinie Tempah.

It was classic when they were watching BBC Breakfast and the announcement of Abba getting back together. When Sally Nugent said that they had not made music together since 1982, two Asian ‘Celebrity’ women commented to each other that they were not even born then. I suspect that most of the ‘Celebrity’ Goggleboxers were not born when the Spice Girls started 25 years ago as Rusty and Derek were far and away the oldest featured.

I was channel hopping at lunchtime and happened across a repeat of an old Top Gear on Dave. The ‘Star In A Reasonably Priced Car’ was some American guy called Matt Le Blanc, who went top of the leader board with 1:42.1, besting Rowan Atkinson. No idea what he went on to do a couple of years later after Clarkson, May and Hammond had left.

Anyway, The Stig got to take a Mercedes Coupe for a lap of the track and it did something like 1:19 but that was halfway down the fastest lap board. The funny thing was that as he was driving The Stig was listening to The Archers on the car radio, which Mr Clarkson described as “some rural nonsense”. Is that the same Jeremy Clarkson that is now presenting some rural nonsense about running a farm in the Cotswolds? <doh>

A year ago, the BBC axed Nish Kumar’s comedy show “The Mash Report” because it had been roundly criticised as total Leftie nonsense. Arguably, it was axed because the Right did not like the idea of the BBC being totally Leftie.

So Kumar’s comedy vehicle was picked up by Dave, renamed “Late Night Mash”, where at least Kumar can be guaranteed repeat showings for the next decade (although it is hard to see the point of repeating event specific comedy skits).

Firstly, in a world where we are supposed to support freedom of speech for all, it seems unfair to stop the Left making fun of the Right. The Right cannot escape from the fact that nothing that the Left does is funny, so comedy about the Left would require people to laugh at their own stupidity. Back in the 1970s, the likes of Mike Yarwood made fun of the loonies running the country by lampooning their personalities not their catastrophic policies.

I watched “Late Night Mash” on Dave and Kumar’s monologue was nothing but completely factually inaccurate rubbish, which the studio audience found to be hilarious. At least in her couple of minutes, comedienne Rosie Jones called him a prick and a dickhead, which she probably could not have done on the BBC. In fairness, some bits of the show were actually funny.

Anyway, the program must have been scheduled to continue for a few weeks live before it is repeated ad infinitum, so tune in on Dave on a Thursday night and form your own opinion.

@brb how long are you going to allow Quarterbore to absolutely tediousify ever thread on GC, the jewel in the crown of this award winning forum?

To come onto this thread, my thread and sabotage it with his lack of wit, brevity and imagination, well that just won't stand!

Sort it out mate or me and you will have to have words.

Sunday 9pm Horror Channel (Sky 317, Freeview 68)
    BLACK DEATH

Starring Sean Bean and Eddie Redmayne.

Not sure which is playing George Floyd and which is playing Derek Chauvin. There must surely be plenty of Yorkshire Tea if everything’s done proper.
