I've not paid for an electricity supply, in the UK, for 20 years so am clueless about this.

There's an EDMI smart meter here, whatever that is.

I had a quick look and 'Octopus' seemed OK but I don't want to sign up only for someone to 'You did what' <yikes>

There's two of us in a 2 bedroom double glazed detached house if that's relevant.

    Thanks to anyone ITK.

You can try here for cheapest.

    https://www.uswitch.com/gas-electricity/

The big companies are pretty shìt and dearest in my opinion.
British gas i wouldn't touch with a bargepole and SSE have been pretty crap having to deal with them since my dad passed away .

Octopus have good write ups in 'Which' magazine mate and they must be fairly stable, as I have been transferred to them after the collapse of Avro Energy last month. Go for a fixed Tariff with little or no early redemption penalties, then when it comes up for renewal, look around again.

Don't go to a compare site. Not the best deals

I've just switched to Shell Energy after researchng for best deals. Price fixed for 2 years as well

Ive been with Shell for a year or so, I was with Green Energy before that but I think they have just gone bust. Parents were with avro but got shifted to Octopus after avro bit the dust last week. I would put your monthly useage into a comparison site and see who they recommend as cheapest but it's not the ideal time to do it with all the uncertainty. Some aren't taking on new customers I think. Hope you get sorted.

If you use a comparison website, make sure you then check the chosen providers own website. Quite ofter there are cheaper deals direct with the company.
A comparison site will show numerous providers, but will only show the deals they get commission on.

I would say I am pretty useless at this, never change because I can’t be arsed for the amount of money you save to the amount of grief you get doing it.<laugh>

Tried changing once about 20 yr ago electric £30 a month first DD went out £241 rang up got it sorted, this won’t happen again, next DD £ 241, rang up told them I’ve cancelled DD so send me a monthly bill, never swapped anything again not worth the hassle for a fiver a week.

It's called 'Opus' which, as far as I can see, is a business supplier.

I suspect that's because this place was recently part of a working farm.
