So sad to hear the news of Jimmy's passing. I loved that guy...same age as me. The most gifted goalscorer I ever saw play. The world has lost a true footballing Legend. I'm sure you're already exchanging reminiscences with Bobby Moore and your old pals in the Great Beyond. Thanks for the memories Jimmy. RIP !!!

Never saw him play CT but my husband did during his time living in London for 4 years between 1960 and 1966. He lived mostly in N. London and regularly watched the main London clubs. He watched Jimmy play for both Chelsea and Tottenham and like you loved the way he played. He recalls the Chelsea fans crying buckets when he left them.

Surely you are just over 1 year older than Jimmy CT?

RIP Jimmy.

Maaarleeene. One of my favourite characters in Only Fools & Horses.

"Bring the family down, have your photograph taken next to it, hahahaha," said Boycie to Rodney and Del as they stand next to his Rolls Royce in his car dealership.

RIP Boycie

Really sad to see him gone ,after watching quite a lot of ‘old ‘ football it often seems pedestrian ‍♂️But on tv ,today the collection of clips show his pace , two feet , composure and if you look at his leg muscles he was fit and strong , very Messi like but quicker- or Messi was very Greaves like !!!

9. "I've left my Mercedes parked downstairs and you know what they're like on this estate. They'd have the wheels off a Jumbo if it flew too low."

Yep...you are never wrong Mrs BMB. I'll be 83 in January...a year and a bit older than the amazing Jimmy Greaves. What a striker that man was in the 60s. Probably the best I ever saw !!! RIP Jimmy.

Saw them a couple of times bitd.

Light years ahead of most other punk/new wave bottom feeders.

Robert Fyfe, aka Howard in Last of the Summer Wine, age 90. I'm surprised he was still around, he looked about 90 when he was still working!
RIP

Often overlooked for his part in 1966, but not by those of us who witnessed it. Alf Ramsey said that if Jimmy Greaves had recovered from injury the only decision he would have had to make was whether Greaves or Hurst would have partnered Hunt up front. Which shows the regard he was held in.
