Difficult to say until we know who's playing for us. With the current squad I'd expect mid-table. 2-3 top signings and I'd expect top six. 5-6 top signings and I'd expect top two.

Interesting to read how pessimistic posters were back in June. Has anyone seen Saints win a league? Beddy would know if we did it in '59 (? I think), but my memory tells me we didn't. Certainly haven't since as all promotions came as runners up. I'll settle for 2nd!

I said I hoped for top 6...1st is top 6! However, I felt midtable would be a decent result in our first season. This really needs reviewing at the end of the season, but cannot (crossing fingers tightly) see us outside top 6 and quite possibly in the autos.
Well, I wasn't here when this thread was started. Wish I was though, as I would have said 7-10th place, and I would have to change my opinion. At this present moment, I think playoffs. We have yet to play those January/February matches, on an awful, cut up pitch, where seasons can be won and lost. Last season, we managed it with barely a hiccup. This is not League One. Saying that, I would not be surprised if we made top 2, but I'm talking about my lowest expectation now. Not what I'm hoping for, or what the team are perfectly capable of. Whether they are successful in the playoffs is in the lap of the gods. I'll say NO, and see where that takes me.
My original prediction was between 5th and 10th but now i'm confident is saying that we are currently the best TEAM in the league. Last night we made West Ham and all their 'stars' look very ordinary and Leicester may have spent a fortune but they haven't got our consistency of performance. I think that the Bookies have got it right in making us odds on for promotion.
Season 2012/13 we will be invited (nay begged ) to join the breakaway European Super League with no relegations.
