Hes going to be a top top player for us. Buzzing that hes going to get his chances with the 1st team this season rather than a loan out.
The kid has talent and maturity on the pitch ive not in someone since Rooney i think. Ive been blowing the harvey Elliott trumpet from day one so i cant wait to see him express himself in our 1st team, like i said hes deffo not out of place there imo and hopefully he can show it this season and make his name. He bloody loves being a Liverpool player too, which can never hurt
I agree on the Rooney comparison. Elliott has no fear on the pitch, he makes sure he gets involved and sees plenty of the ball. Sure he has lots to learn but to see a kid playing like he did yesterday is a rare thing. Really unlucky not to score aswell.
Oh the lil double stepover and curler that hit the woodwork? loved that. id hope that if he gets his chance and does well, it could be the motivation young curtis needs to kick on this year in terms of playing his own game while still maintaining his role in the teams system. i feel he played slightly within himself last term, but hes young and it was his breakthrough season plus the team was in bits all over so im hoping those all played a part too and we see a proper curtis jones this time round, could do with learning a bit of nasty imo, too gentle on the pitch for me sometimes. Looking forward to it
These are my thoughts exactly. I read that Curtis Jones had a bad stammer as a child which affected his confidence in general. I think he still has the stammer to some degree. He's shown he can overcome obstacles and as his confidence grows, it will no doubt translate into his game.
Lots of pressure on him not to **** up when he played games last season due to our predicament in the league later on. Sometimes young players especially need to feel a part of the team, like a real part to truly shine. I recall his 1st senior game against Everton when him and the rest of the kids played them off the park and he banged in the winner. Thats the curtis we wanna see this year, no fear, playing cocky, just playing his natural game. And hes got a great chance this time round to really make a mark.

Some people can only project their own motivations onto everyone else. They seem unable to conceive that people are different. It pisses me off when I see see a player motivated purely by money and then someone else says "anyone who says they wouldn't do the same is lying". People the world over do things for little or no financial reward. If Messi is so distraught at having to leave Barcelona then he could stay and work with the club to make an arrangement that they can afford. It's all crocodile tears imo.
Yeah totally agree I just can’t comprehend how a sports pundit (as with most sports Tbf) whose entire pyramid sits its base on thousands of volunteers cannot see how easy it would be for him to just volunteer don’t get me wrong I don’t blame him for going to PSG - it’s the feux tears that gets me - and that people fall for it I believe he is upset but he clearly isn’t THAT upset

I was 2nd and 1st team captain (which includes team selection, game mangement and dealing with the money) over the last two years for the Hockey club, not only did I do it for nothing but I had to pay to play and pay membership subs. How hard a life it must be for Messi that he can't play for less that 500k a week, on top of all his sponsorships, endorsements and everything else. But then we are talking about someone who felt they didn't have to pay tax.
Yep Most coaches have kids in the teams they coach for and usually still have to pay Registration and subs Not just this country Same all over the world But hey ho some still won’t see it as it truly is I love what I do with grass roots - best thing I ever did It’s brill You seem to love your hockey too
For his boyhood club, no less. If he gave a **** about the club, genuinely had an emotional connection to it, he could happily 'drop' down to 'only' 100k a week and solve pretty much all of their problems. Bless him though, 100k is far too restricting a budget for him. The only way to put food on the table is clearly with a move to PSG. Footballers are so far-removed from the real world and the problems of their fans given the damn pandemic especially. Said it before, I'll say it again and I'll continue saying it until I die; as much as I love the sport, I'm embarrassed by it as well.
