Apparently Spurs turned down the chance to sign him. Is he any good or just another who will leave us at 19
Kane to city is all but done, just waiting for the first game of season to be over. Spurs already lining up replacement in martinet from inter.
Kane to City is worrying. He's the natural goal scorer they've needed since Aguero became unreliable. He would be a far more important signing than Grealish.
The tea lady is more important to city than grealish hand none of them even drink tea! Look Levy just wants to get the game v city at white hart lane done but also extract the maximum value out of city. I think the finger in the dam is the first game. after that I think they will get down to work and we will see then what the realpolitik is like. Spurs cannot afford Gill at 22 mil, Romero at 42.5million (however on laon and can be told to faff off if spurs can't afford him after the season is done and they are 8th) and the same with gollini. Throw martinez in at 60mil and they have singings of up to 110 mil or more right there to fund. The cork will come out of this bottle imo and city will get their man. even Guardiola admitted that they were after him.
why not? His dropping deep last season rather than just hanging out wide or just as a no 9 showed a new side to his game. IMO however city need a finisher as well as someone who can play balls in combo with the attacking CMs who will be joining the box. plus now they have grealish the need someone who can actually take a pen. He will be the city version of fernandes.
Difference between yank style transfers and Football transfers? First I can see the yanks have franchises sitting on top of a colligate structure. I don't see a route for young players outside that. Crucially the college football is HUGE and the biggest stadium in America is I think Michigan Stadium 107,000. I went past it once and its sunk in the ground. Massive. this has massive cash just to play football. Second the yanks have far less franchises with less competition than european football. Third the yanks have actually entered a collective agreement with player unions which is funny given their capitalists ways. Their salary cap is based on the total nfl income and interesting they NFL actually has to pay at least a minimum by club or the union won't be happy. Only ~50% of the total revenue goes to players Fourth they take in players in the draft and this rotates about and they trade draft picks but the draft picks being removed are punishments to clubs breaking the cap. All these difference to me are fairly fundamental and i cannot really see the ways to replicate this structure in football. The clubs generate their own players locally and only survive by selling them in many cases. There is no lesser level that people have a huge interest in like college ball. You can't have a player from ajax going into a "draft" in other words. If I have a top top player at age 21 I can ask anything i like based on his contract. The only solutions i can see is to figure out some cap that is just not a big reward to bigger clubs is to somehow put all the revenues together across Europe and set caps accordingly. For me however, the european leagues are dog eat dog and nobody will agree that spain and germany and italy and england all have to harmonise a cap by club. Messi shows how out of control this all is and how the oil money is polluting the game. PSG heard about messi and jumped instantly, money no object and grabbed a guy they could never get otherwise. they bought neymar and never blinked and grabbed mbappe right after and keep grabbing players.
We need to address the 1st team. Not long left in the window, ill have serious doubts about fsg going forward if we come out of this one with just konate and some kid.
ahem. Don't you ascribe to the view that shovelling money at players already at the club like fabinho and alisson is "like a new signing" Have you not heard you cannot sign "blah blah blah" (whatever jurgen said and others have said in the propaganda out of the club all preseason) Have you not heard VVD and gomez are "like new signings" Are you sure elliott is not the next messiah?
I am sorry Anyone who doesn’t believe that Messi could not work for free IF he wanted to is bonkers Adrian Durham has just stated no one does anything for nothing the whole of football is based on people working for nothing in grassroots really frustrates me
There have been one or two examples of players doing this, although I can't name them off the top of my head.
