Well, it was kind of too good to be true that we haven’t sold anyone decent so far…….shame for him, he’ll be back where he started from in a year, though a bit richer I suppose.
The same person who told me Charlie Austin had signed for us more than twenty four hours before it was announced. I hope they're wrong, but it's rarely the case sadly.
They think that Bettache is ready to make the step up as his replacement. I can't see it myself and if that's the case why didn't he start instead of Chair yesterday?
Just when it was all coming together, I don't see Bettache being anywhere near that good. Unlikely we'd find a replacement now...
Pretty much anyone on a £10m+ offer is going to be considered by the board (unless you’re the standard of Eze of course). I bow to others knowledge that Chair was our missing player that would have made all the difference yesterday. I’m not convinced, but he did look good pre-season to be fair to him.
I wouldn't like to see Chair go, but Bettache has looked decent every time I've seen him. He may develop into as good a player.
Hope this isn't true. Was really looking forward to seeing what this squad could accomplish this season.
I will just add another spin on this. I do hope it isnt true but will wait and see. However, the club have had very little income in last 18 months so maybe this sale helps balance the books a little. I know we have bought players in but maybe this was potentially the pay-off / balance act.
Did anyone hear the rumour that Messi wants to play for us but have no salary???? Or was I dreaming this??
If Eze went for £18m, £11.5 for Chair is a good bit of business, he’s nowhere near the class of Eze. I’d prefer him to stay but we aren’t in a position to turn down fair offers, and hopefully we have other options for midfield. We missed him yesterday because the team without him was set up in an odd way, and I’m putting that down to lack of time to prepare. Could be that the yellow flying vermin put their bid in yesterday morning with a ‘no playing’ requirement. Or it could all be bollocks.
Yesterday sounds like a classic 3-5-2 that needed more from the wing backs and midfield. I didn't see it, but just guessing. Some of our best performances last season had two 10s behind a forward, usually Chair and Willock. A fluid 3-4-2-1 if you will. Not sure who will fill in for Chair in that role.
I was out all yesterday afternoon and missed the bits they showed on Quest...... But from the 2 minutes on the offish a point isn't the worst result and to hear Andy Sinton's woooooooooooooooooo is something to behold.... 45 games to go......
