Safc are certainly not skint. You can see that with the money invested into the infrastructure behind the scenes. It's a decent amount.

There are multiple cash bids in for players. Simply comes down to stricter negotiations. We all want deals to close quicker that's for sure. Be heading back off here after this as just come on quickly as I can imagine the negativity hitting fever point now.

On a personal note, I am for strict negotiations but they are putting themselves into a situation and simply need to close deals now.
It does feel at the moment like they are putting financial prudence above the first team. I guess that’s why it feels like we have no money. As you say there has been investment in our non playing side and facilities but player’s wages and fees seem to be tight. We have to have less costly mistakes, yes but we have to have enough players and it feels imbalanced.

But that's just 'a feeling' that could be completely wrong ....

Of course - but we are unable to put out a first eleven including weaknesses in the defence which were exactly what cost us promotion. There’s some evidence that the haggling is not addressing our weaknesses just by looking at the team sheet. I’m not pissing the bed over it and I want us to get better players ultimately but i think it’s fair to say they haven’t got the balance right at this point.

From only my own point of view. The 'infrastructure' comment doesn't ring true. I'm regularly around the stadium and AOL for work and the buildings and surrounding areas look abysmal. I know you probably mean other areas of infrastructure but based purely on what I see in passing the place looks rundown.

So you'll have seen the new pitch at the sol? Massive renovations within the AOL offices and sporting areas ? The amount of new staff brought in to work on operational aspects ?

It's comprehensive. Just because the bricks and mortar from the outside look the same it doesn't tell half the story. A considerable amount of investment has been made to significantly bring Safc up to scratch.

Now they just need to close on the deals.

What evidence mate ...

... not being difficult, I just haven't seen any.

To be fair if I was a mod and someone mentioned bringing in another Gareth Hall, I would have no option other than awarding a life time ban! I can still se that penalty.

This is mental cruelty.
I believe we signed him AFTER Chelsea voted him their worst ever player. Thankfully Reidy then got more right than wrong in the transfer market,

Havent heard it all but the gist I got was we will wait for quality and not panic buy. I still trust them to get this right. I also believe we will more than hold our own in this league until we get the reinforcements we need.
Yes a LB is probably one priority but we have a couple of fill in boys who will do the job in the meantime.

Only time will tell if I am correct.

PS, if I am I will be on here to torture a few of you negative f*ckers.
<laugh>
PPS, if I am wrong I will eff off and change my user name cos I do not want any grief

Too late ya bugger we could spot you like a tranny at the SOL pisser,<laugh><laugh><laugh>

I honestly don’t think we are that weaker if at all weaker than we were last season. My concern is how much stronger the league is.
I think our midfield is stronger, however we're weaker up front and certainly at the back. We need another striker and three quarters of a back 4. Remember playing midfielders in the back four weakens our midfield options as well as the back 4. I'd much rather have Winchester on the banch pushing Evans than at right back "filling in". Hopefully it won't be for much longer.

Whilst I believe that the regime change will be good in the long run I don't see any reason why we can't question what is happening at the moment. We are very wafer thin as a squad particularly in certain positions. If I am honest I expected us to be in a stronger position. The constant harping of one forum versus another is because there is frustration around. We are sick of being below where we believe we should be (notice I said believe not deserve)

Ok. We don’t have a full 11. Fact.
Speakman says we have to balance quality of player and price.
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that there are two issues here - price and availability of our targets.

Would you rather we didn't?

You claimed our haggling is the problem, there's no evidence for that. It may be that a certain player doesn't want to come to Sunderland, or his club want clauses we'd be stupid to accept, or he's asking for a guaranteed starting place, etc.

Nothing to do with haggling at all.
