Price is related to player quality, contract, but also "game state". If you want to take a second of our "crown jewels" with a week or so to the start of the season, you're going to have to pay a premium. It upsets preparations and leaves us having to find a replacement at short notice. That won't be cheap, so those costs get "passed on" in a higher transfer fee. It won't be as fair a price for the player as the Buendia deal was, but it reflects the fact it makes a bigger impact on the club.
As it stands, we probably end up with Placheta or Onel starting in the 4-2-3-1?
I was considering the fact that TC obviously wants to play at the highest level possible. I didn't know the club had an option year. Without that, we could be forced to sell cheaper than we want to.
As much as I like watching Cantwell play, I wouldn't be worried if we sold him for £40m.
