Just a thought - Coulson never went to Ipswich did he, and they weren't willing to wait for him? And Boro wanted to bring a replacement in first.

I guess lets just keep an eye out on whether Boro announce a left back in the next day or two...

EDIT - just reading that Ipswich do still want him and are waiting for Boro to bring one in. Coulson was left out of the friendly squad yesterday though

No one seems to know what's happened so it's hard to tell. Could be out fault/decision, his fault/decision. If we have someone else they need to sign asap imo. There was room in squad for both too so puzzling. Just over a week until the first game and not looking great. We need to get players in the door asap. We can't limp on or right off 5 league games. We've also 2 cup gamed to put a team out for too which currently would he hard to do if we want rotation as we've very little to rotate.

LJ did say we had numerous options for LB on the list. It's highly possible (and sensible) to be under negotiations with a couple of your options. It may be Gallagher was agreed, but when our preferred option made his mind up and put pen to paper, our other options (Gallagher included) would no longer be required.

Completely forgot about him. That sounded all wrapped up. He sounds a player.

  6. If Plan A's agent was playing hardball and suddenly got the feeling that Plan B was about to happen, saw a deal falling away and advised his client to accept,......just my speculation of course. Could be a sling in the eye for all those who think we're still clueless in these markets.

A mate I travelled with in the 80's would bring along Sunderland fans he'd met at Nottingham Uni ...

... a couple whinged too much and I barred them just for that.

I enjoy our matches, even if it doesn't go our way, and don't let 'realists' spoil it for me. Of course it's not real, it's a bloody pointless football match that's supposed to take you out of real life for a few hours.

    I'd agree with you there.

However he comes from a club system that regularly produces good players ...

... last season was weird with too many defensive changes, injuries, etc.

I wouldn't automatically write him off personally.

Not saying I want him back as I agree. He looked a little improvement on mcfadzean. But he’s a young lad making his way and you never know what might become of him. I won’t write him off on the back of seeing 3 games though

  14. They've told everyone they know we are ****......and,no doubt we have been!......so,everything we do has to confirm their opinion in front of their peers....otherwise they look foolish. They can't stand the thought they will engage with any optimism, for fear of being called out by these same peers.
If we get promoted this year,it'll be because L1 is **** and we should expect to get out....nothing good to say there.
If we get promoted from the Championship,it'll be because "our rich kid" has thrown money at it,signed players on long term contracts who aren't going to be good enough for the PL, and we'll be staring relegation in the face as soon as we start.
    I know some of these people....it's never-****ing ending! <laugh>

    New contract for Younger...

They obviously have faith in him. Looks a canny prospect to me.

But then if Hume doesn't resign, we still need another option, so why not keep the Gallagher offer open. Are we maybe going to see both Hume and "Plan A" player signing today?

I just want the second left back to be good enough that if Hume IS first choice its because he's playing brilliantly.
