The 1963 European Cup Winners' Cup Final was the final football match of the 1962–63 European Cup Winners' Cup and was the third European Cup Winners' Cup final. It was contested between Tottenham Hotspur of England and the defending champions, Atlético Madrid of Spain, and was held at Feijenoord Stadion in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Tottenham won the match 5–1 thanks to goals by Jimmy Greaves (2), John White and Terry Dyson (2). Tottenham's victory made them the first British team to win a major European trophy.
It wasn’t the premier European trophy - it wasn’t the Champions cup. I’m talking about the elite competition, not the novelty prize.
As you well know.

Quite intrigued to see how he does, not sure he's the £50m CB Arsenal needed. No doubt talented with a lot of potential but I feel they needed a game changing CB - just like we do - and I'm not sure that right now White is that type of defender.

Xhaka is going to be offered a new contract and a wage increase after his move to Roma fell through.
<doh>. I truly despair.
He's 29 in September, made clear his intention to leave and we want to reward him with a new deal when his current one expires in 2023 and he'll be 31 by then anyway? No point protecting his 'value' when he won't be worth much anyway in a year or two.

I'm living in feint hope that this is a tactic to call Roma's bluff and force them into moving quick to get the Xhaka deal over the line. But doesn't seem likely anymore.

Good news for you lot and the rest of the league. Horrible news for us.

Nah, they've got plenty of money. They'll spend the rest on Xhaka's contract though, thankfully! <laugh>

I said it on the Arsenal board. I’ve not known many occasions where fans and management have diametrically opposing views (for this long) on a player’s quality.

He’s been a regular under Wenger, Emery and Arteta, whereas Mourinho was singing his praises too. I don’t get what they’re seeing in him that the rest of us aren’t. It’s so baffling.

Plays well for Switzerland, but always looks like a liability for Arsenal.
I can see why another club might take a chance on him.
No idea why Arteta's expecting him to suddenly turn a corner for you, though.

He has one or two good games 5 or 6 average games and 1or 2 horror shows every 10 games from what I see.

Not the worst player in the world but it's telling that NO club above arsenal have come in for him.

Like you said ... baffling that he's being offered another contract.
