The guy is straight up a massive ****. Simple as that.

Bizarre to think he could have had a better career than he had if he had a brain in his ****ing head.

He's well in the world class but he likely could have been head and shoulders above any English player ever. Boozing, kitchen boxing and whoring was just a bit too tempting for the lad.

Should have been up there with Messi and Ronaldo. They're still playing and he looks like he's in his fifties. What a waste.

He was always likely to get caught out again because he's a pisshead and a halfwit. Although why he hasn't been single for years is a question you'll have to ask his wife. Money, I suspect.

I was shot down a few months ago when I had posted about class footballers who's careers just seemed to fizzle out and said he was my top choice. Players like Lampard,Gerrard,Terry,Drogba etc all had these fond farewells where a big deal was made when they retired, where as Rooney, back to Everton, nashed off to America then just ended up at Derby. No disrespect to any of those clubs, but you see what I'm getting at.

Aye, in terms of football for a player of his calibre, the end of his playing career was tragic.

It must be awful being a Derby fan at the moment. Club is in financial ruin, they’ve got about 5 players, look nailed on for the drop and they have this idiot in charge.

I really can't understand why he's been given a job tbh, I hate to say it but he just comes across as thick. I've no idea how he can motivate players when his team talks consist of 'Errrr I errr want errr the errr full backs to errrr etc etc etc.' <doh>

A mate of mine said you can split his career into 2. Before 2010 and 2010 and afterwards. Before 2010 he showed enough to be considered a major world player. But he never developed as he got older, never took care of himself, lost a bit of pace, never got his hot headedness sorted, never adapted. His good performances became more and more intermittent, especially for England when he never did it in a major game or tournament. Its hard to think that the explosive talent at Euro 2004 was as good as it got for him. I'll excuse 2006 as he'd been injured and wasn't fully fit and probably shouldn't have been picked (thank you Sven), but every other finals appearances were lousey with no excuse for why. I can't help but think that if SAF hadn't decided to retire in 2013 that he'd have peddled Rooney as he was already starting to decline. He's never shown the brains to adapt his game as he got older and keep himself near the top level, just relied on a reputation from years earlier and good press from the media to cover for him.

Good post mate.

He was an odd one. ASF started messing him around position wise, LW, CAM and so did England.

His England career was terrible when you consider he is all time highest scorer. Never did it when it mattered, once he got to tournaments he did nothing, I always felt he switched to holiday mode once he arrived in host country.

Can score all the goals he wants against a bunch of postmen and farmers who play football semi-pro, Kane has already done more for England than Rooney did.
