Young un wants to go to an away game, so I’m thinking Fulham. I’m considering driving to maybe the outskirts and then getting a train into london
Anyone have any advice on which would be a good station to use?

We’ve used Cockfosters, very easy to get to just off M25. Did Chelsea from there so pretty much the same destination.

I’d second this. Historically if we’re staying overnight I’ve also used Uxbridge where you can park all weekend for nowt reasonably close to the tube station, though it’s further to drive from round here.

Yep, Stanmore is best for places on the underground. Change at Westminster for Wimbledon trains, which go to Putney Bridge, nearest station to Craven Cottage.

For south of the river, I often use Leagrave, the station just north of Luton. It’s on Thameslink so has connections to Palace, Charlton, etc. Also only 25 minutes into Kings Cross and the car park is only a few quid a day. I’ve left my car there for a week before, when flying out of London Luton.

I used to work a short walk from Stanmore and it is (in my opinion) the most convenient with on-site parking and easy access to/from both M1 and A1

Stanmore as others have said or why not just park at Donny station and jump on the LNER direct to kingscross, takes just over 1hr 30mins... Much more relaxing

If Donny's a possibility wouldn't a direct train from Hull be a better one?

I wouldn't trust hull trains ( they have got better but still prefer LNER ) and they are a lot less often then the LNER ones from Donny... But yes he can go direct from hull

I much prefer Hull Trains as the staff are far more pleasant and friendly

Free beer with your meal on LNER though, so...

    Depends what you mean really

First class on both is good, and the food/drink is marginally better on LNER but the comfort and staff are better on Hull Trains IMHO.

If the times work I normally go Hull

Interesting Hull Trains Chief Exec has moved on to run London Buses. I liked her and thought she did a good job so interesting to see if anything changes as a result

I find comfort the same really now they are both using the same train, I suppose I use LNER more as there is more trains with it being easier for me to head to Donny station

it's many years since I've been, but a few times i parked near brent cross and used the station there. i think we found a quiet residential street near the station. the handy thing is it's so close to the end of the m1.

Another option is to drive to the ground and park right outside, using parkonmydrive.com, you can get a place ten minutes walk from the ground for £6.50.

It's what I do, though it's possibly a better option for people who already know their way around London.

First class has been really good price wise since covid hit, even very last min tickets, sure normal service price wise will resume asap though
