Not technically illegal to ask a sixteen year old though, they are seen as being able to consent generally although some exceptions where capacity is an issue or the alleged perpetrators have used coercion and control etc. Morally repugnant but not against the law.
If we sign this bloke, I'll not return to the stadium. It's an absolute disgrace. He should have been charged. There's no denial that he was texting young girls asking for pictures. The club doesn't need this after what we've been through.
Under 18 photos are child pornography still. So whilst she’d be over the age of consent, she wouldn’t be old enough to have nude photos of her. And anybody that held them would have child pornography. As you and others have said, the law here doesn’t actually matter. It’s what people deem as morally acceptable. My stance has softened slightly from last night when I was spitting feathers, however I still want him nowhere near this club.
Evans was also guilty of extremely dubious behaviour and whilst eventually his conviction was overturned I wouldn’t have gone near him with a ****ty stick either.
This is a good point actually and I hadn’t thought of the consent issues being different, assumed the age would be the same. Either way he’s not someone I want anywhere near SAFC.
I don't regard somebody breaking the law to be any worse than somebody who is morally repugnant over this sort of thing. We can't pretend this kind of behaviour is okay just because he hasn't been charged. It isn't. He's scum.
I’ll be honest with griffiths and say I’m just looking at the surface of it. Not looked into anything at all. I literally know nothing about him. Other than he had charges dropped fir allegedly texting an under 16.
ASI said mate I know nothing about it. Spent 30 seconds this morning looking it up and find that all charges were dropped! That said, if charges are dropped due to insufficient evidence, there’s nothing to say that new evidence won’t come to light. I’m just saying on the face of it he’s innocent until proven otherwise. But I know literally nothing of the situation or what he’s apparently done
Dropped charges doesn’t mean innocent in the eyes of the law though. It means (possibly) not enough evidence to charge. Basically they would be wasting their time going to court as it’s almost certainly be not guilty. If more substantial evidence comes to light then he’ll likely be arrested again and charged. Having looked a bit more into it… I retract my earlier statement. I want him nowhere’s near the club!!
You can all argue over the rights and wrongs if you like but if you think I am going to google child pornography to look up the implications, you can **** right off. So who could be the Premier League loan, any idea?
On the subject of Griffiths, I honestly couldn't give a **** what he's like off the pitch, he might be a total arsehole for all I care. He's technically done nothing illegal in texting this lass. If we have the possibility of signing someone who can fire us out of this league, I don't care what type of person he is. We can be picky when we get back to the Premier League. But right now, I'm sick of being in this league and if Griffiths can get us out of it, I'm all for it.
Not many people condone what he did but, its not illegal what he was doing. Its would be like getting denied entry to a rated 18 movie at the cinema when you're a day over 18... I do hope we aren't in for him though, it's a wronguns way that.
Agreed. People saying they’re done with SAFC if he signs man The overreaction on Twitter has been pathetic. Bunch of fannies for supporters.
If you recruit one or two bad apples and they turn a couple of heads you can end up with half your starting eleven half pissed on a Saturday afternoon... Like we did for a few seasons. No way was the likes of Fletcher, Graham, Gibson, Dilibodji and so on, playing sober.
RTG is having a meltdoon toon style. That and the horrible racist British public is taking up half their front page
You just stamp out the drinking culture from the get go and that doesn't happen. The Griffiths thing is only a loan apparently (?), so I don't see the risk in it. Didn't help that Poyet didn't mind the players having a drink so they were all at it. LJ won't allow it I wouldn't have thought. Club is ran a lot better these days and I trust them to get these moneyball players in and firing. If you're willing to walk away from the club over the signing of one player, then you need to have a word with yourself like.
