I get the 'over-coaching' thing and the PL becoming a bit sterile, but I see players like Foden doing his thing and my faith is restored, it's players like this that become the cream because of all the automatons around them going through the donkey work. I've always liked the players who were a bit different, with a special bit of magic that you can't coach. George Best, maybe Hoddle, Eric Cantona, and my favourite player of modern times Iniesta
I agree with the over coaching bit. My sisters grandson, who was training at Sunderland and Newcastle, got dropped from his forward role in the school team, and put in goal, because he was scoring too many goals against other schools. He stopped training with Sunderland, because he just had to do exactly what the others did, no room for flair! He continued training with Newcastle, much to the annoyance of ALL of his family who are red and white through and through, because he was allowed to be more individual.and was able to do his own thing.
