It was a ****e penalty but he had essentially been told 'here you go, i'll give you 30 seconds of game time then you go and win it for us'.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Not only that, he took Walker and Henderson off and threw two wingers on to defend a ****ing corner then whatever injury time we had.

The three lads who missed penalties are not to blame.

Dont blame him for missing. I wouldnt be able to walk half the length of the pitch to take the penalty without my legs giving way.
I blame him for taking that stupid ****ing run up. Why? Just why? You're just putting yourself up for ridicule when you miss. When he started doing it you just knew he was gonna miss. I was resigned to it before he even struck the ball.
Putting them on with 15 minutes to go with one eye viewed on them taking a penalty, fair enough. But putting them just to take a penalty in the last minute? Comparable to a soldiers first day, being marched up to the front lines of the Somme battle field and expecting to lead the very first wave. Silly decision.
However the writing was on the wall midway through the first half. We werent going to score a second. Matter of time before they equalised. Penalties was our best chance, but you just knew it was never meant to be.

I notice that alot of these penalties are consistantly placed at a height that is generous for the keeper. Surely putting a bit more lift on it, like Maguires, increases the chances of it going in in the event of the keeper diving the right way? I know you risk putting it over, just surprised more players dont do it. A bit of thump with a bit of lift. If I took one I would probably whack it straight at the keepers face. More often than not he would dive out of the way.

Kane and Maguire were perfect. Into the side netting or roof of the net, never save them.

Just a shame it was the two young lads the pressure dropped on.

Considering the sheer drama Wales had with the manager, it was a success.

Still better than Scotland, who may I remind you... Are ****e.
Do we need reminding? I think everyone knows they're the only home nation to never make it out of the group stage, not even in '78 when they were going to win it.

I said I wanted to take one!!!! The gaffer has made so many right decisions through this tournament and he did tonight! But I won’t have people say that I didn’t want to take a peno when I said I will…

"If you're Sterling or Grealish, you cannot sit there and have a young kid go up for a penalty ahead of you."

Yup. Southgate has come out and said he picked the penalty takers and he’s taken responsibility for it not working out for us.

Bit sick of reading the **** on here since the final whistle, digging certain players out for criticism.

IMO all the players did us proud during this tournament and we were a whisker away from winning it.

Yeah, Southgate says it's all on him. Not impressed with him tactically, but much respect for the person he is, and what he bought to the team, which is similar to Moyes did at West Ham last season.

Yup. Cheers guys, getting tired in some of the negativity, not here, just on social media in general. The lads have done so much, me personally there was no expectation last night, they had earned the right to play the best, and only lost to the best via a lottery.

Personally I find social media chock full of state-sponsored bots trying to cause social divides.

I was surprised, don't know why, by even some of the news channels, negativity all over the shop. Those same people would have been biggin him up if the penalties had gone the other way.

We got a World Cup coming up, we should be telling these lads how well they done, but nah now they will go ****te scared into the next set of penalties we get - we need to break the vicious cycle that feeds off this.

Happy with finally beating a top tier side in Knockout stages and reaching a final.

Germany game was great.

Italy were the best team in tournament and marginally better side last night too.

Crowd was much quieter last night than Denmark game, did it come across that way on TV?

Apparently talk radio had a caller on this morning. It went like this……

‘The ‘woke’ Gareth Southgate deliberately brought on 2 black players, and had Saka take the last penalty, so that the nation would unite behind the black players and justify taking the knee.’

<laugh><laugh><laugh>
How do these people even function!

Did he forget the 3rd black player......

Agreed, mate. I was trying to get a rise out of the Man Utd lads last night but in truth I'm proud of every single player in that tournament. They couldn't have given us anymore. Sick of the ****e Southgate is getting, he's just navigated us all the way to the final and even then we remained unbeaten. Previously a nations league semi final and a World cup semi-final. Wtf do people want...

Always one to look for the positives so at least we won't see The @Chief's hairy ring piece and nads bothering our screens for the next year.
