But considering how many left from central midfield, we aren't that light there. Agree, a quality holding midfielder, and I think that area is done.

A different option up front, another centre half, and some full backs, and we are there or there abouts.

Slightly off tack but just checked our line up for the match v Spennymoor last weekend and Arbenit Xhemajli was nowhere to be seen.
anybody any ideas if he's back to fitness of not.

Brilliant to see another play sign on and say Johnson is a massive reason he has signed. He does seem to be a coach that players young and old want play for. He seems to be one of those that really does get players motivated.

He will play many minutes before then. He has made great progress. I think it's just LJ way of managing expectations with him.

i still dont think we saw the best of winchester but he did show 'glimpses...let's remember who our midfielders were first, dobson - ended up loaned out, power - spent more time in defence with onien, scowen - did a lot of work and running around but was nowhere near productive enough, half the season with no geads, gooch was used in about 4 or 5 different positions...with a productive, forward thinking and hopefully goalscoring attacking midfielder someone like winchester might well shine behind him, IF we also get a decent defensive line up plus spares and the striker option(s) i dont think we are too far off and should be enough to get us near the top, then tweak it in january if needed.

think it’s difficult for any January signing to properly bed in. I always like to judge them from the next season

cant argue with that, hopefully we wont 'need' bodies in then apart from a couple of 'filler - ins' but if we have to, at least they should be fully match fit and able to hit the ground running...also, if we really are sticking to a pattern and style now i would expect any new signings to be able to slot right in with minimum catch up time needed.

First team shaping up nicely, then.

Just need some full backs and another striker up top to start the season off.

A better goalkeeper wouldn’t go amiss, either.

Yeah I think it’s October when things become clear anyway. As long as the start isn’t disastrous it’s usual to have a few sketchy results in a process of change. We just need to be in close touching distance. Let’s be honest some fans just hate him because he has a southern accent and uses cliches and there are some over the road who are dying for him to fail to prove their point. I was worried about our collapse last year but there were mitigating circumstances. He definitely needs to show a less streaky side and then the club need to give him the players who will avoid last seasons injury situation.
