i was working abroad then missed a lot of Sunderland working away it was hard to get papers in Kenya in them days
My father died in 1990, less than a year after he retired. He never got to travel to Sunderland where his father was born. My mother and his sister took a sentimental trip to the UK in the early 1990's, including a visit to Roker Park. She bought one of those shirts for me on the trip. It will always remind me of her visit to Sunderland.
as the boss says luvely shoulders show em off show em off yes Sergeant major 3xl will fit the shoulders plus anything else
thank you for your input mate, these stories strengthen our bond with the far reaches of this planet we are all Sunderland at heart
Some lad on twitter has posted this, think it's a mock up This the preston one below which would look good with teal sleeves i think
Thats the Away Shirt worn in the 1992 Cup Final. The club Shop FINALY started selling them again a couple of years ago. I was up there like a shot for mine. I don't know quite why, but it's by far my favourite away top.
Mine too. Has been ever since! Probably my favourite football shirt. That’s why I couldn’t “not” buy it!!
The Vaux era produced some great shirts, especially away shirts. My favourite was the Gold Hummel shirt, the blue trim just set it off perfectly. I wore that shirt to the Swindon play off game and my daughter wore the home shirt, it was her first game and her first Sunl'n shirt. She still has it along with her first Great North Run shirt. Love seeing the old shirts sometimes at games, so many of them have aged so well.
Class shirt that. Nothing will ever beat the blue Hummel though. Added weight to that shirt because ‘Gates, Gabbiadini, back to Gates, GABBIADINI….’ Y’all know.
defo my favourite top. shame you can't feckin buy one anywhere, bar the retro tops..... but they don't have the hummel shoulders.
