This, never seen the covering pace needed for ch, Wright resorts to rugby tackling when they do him for pace.
I certainly don’t blame the club for not matching Wigan’s contract offer if it is indeed £10k per week. You can’t pay a League 1 player that. Especially one rapidly approaching 30 who’s had one standout season in his career.
He's not the answer at the back, he's lost a bit of mobility/agility/pace in my opinion, and as you say, he resorts to pulling his man back or down when he's beaten for pace. When Sanderson was here he covered the ground so well that we could get away with players like Wright, Flanagan and O'Nien alongside him, but once he was absent it stuck out like a sore thumb. Hopefully Xjemajli (SP) will be our replacement for Sanderson, and we can try others alongside him to find the best fit, but Wright shouldn't be the main man as he's not good enough.

One of the least reliable sources as they literally just report what they see on social media. Still though plenty of rumours about it, so might be true

Good post, sums it up for me. He was clearly not fit when he was brought back in and it was compounded by the need to play every 3/4 days for the rest of the season but he was poor before and after his injury last season. Not comfortable against pace but latterly struggled against physical strikers as well. We need a better option to be our main man at that back.
If Wyke really has got himself a bumper pay deal then fair play to him. Wigan are certainly going for it so credit to them. I do wonder whether this is really what he wanted from a footballing perspective though. He seemed to be close to celtic or the championship and no disrespect to Wigan this is a level below. Probably shows just what others are saying and that mid table and championship teams dont have two pence to rub together.
It all feels a bit odd to me. Although he got all those goals for us last season,I don't think I'm alone in not being unhappy that he's gone....which seems a strange thing to say. I just never thought there was much of a player there somehow. I remember his silly fouls, his immobility, lack of ball control and his frequent offsides as much as his goals. If the stories are true, Wigan are paying over the odds for him in wages, although him not costing a fee will have helped with that. I don't wish him any ill will at all,but I won't be surprised if he falls on his arse.
