Well, I’m sure that he’s either been told or seen for himself the negative comments: hell, there was a survey on Planet Swans that showed that over 2/3rds wanted him gone.
He possibly hoped to play more expansively last season, but things may not have worked out, eg MGW getting injured and then recalled. Plus the Board wouldn’t pay the £1m loan fee for Wilson last season.
Perhaps he knows that he has to change style this season - particularly with the fans back in the Liberty: I really hope to see us play with width, pace and style.

Swansea City's academy have signed youngster Charlie Veevers from Manchester United. The under-23s have already recruited left-back Lincoln McFayden from Preston North End and goalkeeper Nico Defreitas-Hansen from Everton this summer.
And it's understood they have added an additional 10 young guns from Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Leeds United to their ranks ahead of the new season.

Swansea City has completed the signing of midfielder Liam Walsh on a free transfer, subject to international clearance.
The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at the Liberty Stadium, following his departure from Bristol City.
Walsh becomes the Swans’ third summer signing as he follows Kyle Joseph and Joel Piroe in making the switch to South Wales.
The playmaker has linked up with the rest of the first-team squad at Pennyhill Park, and will take part in the remainder of Swansea’s training camp there.
The former England age-grade international started his career with Everton, joining the club’s academy at the age of five and working his way up through the scholarship ranks to sign professional terms in 2015.
A regular in Everton’s under-18 and under-23 sides, Walsh helped David Unsworth’s development team win the Premier League 2 title in 2017, and was shortlisted for the competition’s Player of the Year award.
By that time he had already had a short but successful loan spell at Yeovil, and went on to have a stint with Birmingham City where he played under Harry Redknapp before a change of manager limited his opportunities.
A move to Bristol City for an undisclosed fee followed in January 2018, with Walsh playing in both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Manchester City alongside current Swan Korey Smith.
He made 11 appearances for the Robins that season, and 10 more the following campaign due to injury problems.
Walsh joined Coventry on loan for the 2019-20 season and helped the Sky Blues achieve promotion to the Championship as he made over 30 appearances and scored four goals in all competitions.
He returned to Bristol City, but thigh and hamstring injuries limited him to just three appearances last season.

Swansea City is pleased to announce the continuation of its partnership with Swansea Building Society for the 2021-22 season.
In the final year of a three-year deal between the club and the building society, the local institution will remain as an official lounge partner.
This will see the executive lounge on the third floor of the Liberty Stadium continue to be named the Swansea Building Society Lounge.
