I see what you're saying but again I'll go back to when Keane first came in we were playing catch up after 4 games and still romped home

His best bet would be to sign a 4 year deal with us,get into the Championship and be playing at the top end of it,even an eye on the PL by the time his contract is up.
If he goes to Posh,he'll be playing in a struggling team for a season,staring at relegation and will be looking at another move at least if he wants to continue to play at a higher level.

As much as it's hopefully likely we will be able to offer him championship football in the next 3 years, its obviously a lot more likely Peterborough will.

When he joined us 3 years ago he probably thought that meant championship football season soon. It didn't. There's no guarantees in football, as we have learnt, so its about taking the options facing him now.

I've heard there's going to be a good news story this afternoon... probably to compensate for what's going on with O9, Hume and Wyke

Peterborough can offer him one season in a likely struggling team in the Championship fighting off relegation for much of it.
If he stays with us,yes he's got another season in L1,but us and Posh could be swapping places in May 22. If he moves now,and that were to happen,at that stage it would be about whether he was able to obtain another move to another Championship club,or he'd be back to square 1.

Yes but us and Posh swapping places only MIGHT happen. Him staying here means he MIGHT get to play in the championship in a year.

If he moves now he plays in the championship now.

Personally I think he'll be going to Luton, as they're even closer to home for him and the manager suits him, and they're pretty well established in the league now so less chance of relegation. But I can definitely see why he'd go to Peterborough if they were his option (looks like they've ruled him out now anyway).

Yep,can see your argument mate. I guess I'm looking at it from his contract point of view.If he's looking at 4 years,say to 31 years of age,he's going to find it more difficult to play one year in The Champo and three in L1 with Posh,than one year in L1 and 3 in the Champo with us.
Of course,a move to another Champo club...Luton?...renders all that null and void.

Interesting he was announced separate to the others. Clearly they see him as 2nd or 3rd choice in the first team.

I reckon that it will be a case of Patterson replacing Matthews and Carney replacing Patterson - with Carney playing for U23s but working with first team.

Personally I want to see Patterson loaned out. He's young for a keeper and could do with a good run of games like Pickford did.

Carney has got loads more first team experience than Patterson though.
