I get that but we need to get off to a fast start, having your squad sorted for pre season games, not playing catch up.Can I just say for the posters that are getting panicky about nobody coming in yet, we can all remember the last day of the window when a certain Roy Keane came in to manage us. Still plenty of very good players at the end of the window available. Relax
Someone on RTG claiming it will be announced later that Wyke, O’Nien and Hume are going to be released / have turned down contracts. Not arsed personally as none of them are irreplaceable. Would be nice to see a trickle of signings soon though. We always seem to leave it late.
They must have been offered better deals elsewhere, not looking good if only 1 of 4 players we wanted to keep out of the 10 who's contracts were up decided to staySomeone on RTG claiming it will be announced later that Wyke, O’Nien and Hume are going to be released / have turned down contracts. At the moment we will be about half as likely as last year to gain promotion, not great.club needs a statement signing pretty soon. We are down to 13 first team players, one of them is Grigg and one of them is an out-for-the-season Willis, and apart from McGeady none of them scream promotion candidates to me.
If we want to sign the better players they need to be able to look at the squad and think they have a good chance of promotion. I'm not sure they can do that right now.
Agree, only the 2nd July but pre-season is nearly upon us, we play Spennymoor tomorrow - probably with a lot of U23 - but the McGeady signing isn't nearly enough...club needs a statement signing pretty soon. O9 has to go nowThings moving quickly this morning. So according to the Peterbough news story, the below means O'Nien WON'T sign for Peterborough. I still think he'll go to Luton
You must log in or register to see media
Well I now think he wants to move onI think I would be a bit gutted if O'Nien went. The other 2 i dont care about. I just like his work rate, versatility and enthusiasm. He seemed to 'get' the club. Not sure we can find anyone better than him in league 1 in respect of the attributes I've mentioned.
Well I think the opposite and his agent will be looking for his cut, a move being in the agent's best interestsWell I now think he wants to move on
Maybe I should of saidWell I think the opposite and his agent will be looking for his cut, a move being in the agent's best interests
My Peterborough supporting mate is adamant they are signing O'Nien.
It's a move that would make sense for him as only 40 mins up the A1M from where his friends and family live.
Personally I'd like him to stay but I just want the club to have an answer now. It seems clear his heart is set elsewhere and if that's the case, we need to move on.
That move wouldn't make sense to me, other than geographically as you've said.
Imo, Peterborough spend wisely, they won't throw money around, and as a result, are more likely to come straight back down than we are to go up. So, he could be back to square one this time next year with a smaller club than he's at now.
If someone like Watford or Luton (also not too far from his family) came calling, then he'd have a choice to make, but not Posh.
I understand what you're saying, but even if Posh go down he'll see it as a year to prove himself in the Championship. He's what 27 years old? He's running out of chances. In a couple of years he will be too old to be given a chance up there.
So for him, if he wants to progress as high up as possible, it would make sense to move to a championship club and get a year of championship football under his belt.
