No, Oddy, I disagree, he purposely flipped the ball back with his hand, no doubt about it. Take another look. I don't feel sorry for the Dutch, they were overconfident and in the end, lousy!
Am obviously disappointed in that given the Dutch were my choice before the tournament. I actually turned the game off at half time after a boring but dominant Dutch performance thinking the second half would be a formality. Given the Italians struggles yesterday too i'm revising my idea of the final to Portugal/Belgium vs Germany.
Seems like the teams that coasted through the group stages have somehow shot their bolt a little bit. My wallet hopes that Belgium don't become one of those statistics.
Wow, what a goal by Thorgan Hazard for Belgium. Big brother, Eden, will be proud of him. Livened-up a bit of a dull game.
Certainly livened up since I woke up. All Portugal with occasional breaks from Belgium. Belgium clung on to their 1-0 lead, courtesy of the post
Croatia and Czech Republic handing our group form a massive boost. We dispatched of these two teams comfortably.
Apart from a couple of moments I think Croatia have been pretty poor. And I think the Czechs benefitted from a very lacklustre performance from the Dutch.
How? Would it not make a difference to you whether you go into a match in or out of form? Form is momentum. Momentum is massive in most sports, imo.
Dutch came into this massively overrated, though. Their star players are De Ligt (fair enough) Depay and Wijnaldum. They were never a serious threat, imo. Czechs done what they needed to do against them and done it well.
It might be Corona related but this is the worst tournament I can remember in terms of the quality of football on show.
14 goals...!! Bloomin eck, that's more than England will score in the next 2x tournaments the way we are shaping... I have to say that from an entertainment point of view last nights football was top notch drama, end to end football and to coin a phrase from our racing correspondent to the Royals, there were more plots than an Agatha Christie novel...!! The who dunn' its though were almost certainly the defensive players for all 4x of last nights teams as not one of them could get anyway with murder in their defense. I do think that these 'total football' teams are so readily keen to play out from the back and want to advance down the pitch as quick as possible that it's laughable at how many of the goals are so avoidable with just an inkling of knowing what to do, where to stand and who to mark...!! Anyway, may the rubbish defending continue, the spectacular score lines keep a rolling, and that England join the party and score at least 2 goals in the 120mins that may be available...!! #noneedforpens #itsnotcominghome #1niltotheengerlund
