I think this was the time when short pulled the plug on endless financing of SAFC and started to invest in tennis in california for his son?

He definitely pulled the plug and Allardyce looked like a man on the edge. If he hadn't gone to England I believe he would have walked but we never got to find out.

Sam staying would have seen us carry on to get the best from the 3 k's he signed at least, which would have been a great improvement on Moyes.

That’s the daft thing though mate we have why f uck about just trample our way to the premiership and then be like Keegan and say we aren’t here for the laugh, I know if I had his dosh that would be my aim<ok>
its not like it hasn't been done before Chelsea Leicester Spurs City and about 6 others

Said to my lad at the time, the miss would come back to haunt us. For everyone he scored, he missed dozens of easy chances. People forget that
Dozens?? So you’re saying he had over 300 easy chances last season? Wow!

Funny how he has a 28% chance conversion rate (better than a goal from every 4 attempts) and, incidentally, 2nd best in the division after Clarke-Harris.
Why do we, as fans, have to beat the **** out of a player who just had his best season ever? As I’ve said, he’s not a great footballer, but he is a very good (or was last season) L1 striker. The 2 are not mutually exclusive.

also, the first half miss didn’t haunt us. It was 1-0 at the time. He scores it becomes 2 and is a different game. The miss second half after McGeady hit the post did cost us. But the easier chance didn’t as the whole game would’ve been different at 2-0.

Grow up lad.. hes a knacker. Last season was because he had McGeady putting them on a plate..

It wasn’t. You literally said he missed dozens of chances for every goal. He didn’t.

What difference does it make that McGeady set them up? As Wyke won’t be there, who is McGeady going to set up? Surely a striker has to make the right runs? And has to finish (which he statistically did very well)

i.e. if Wyke won’t score without McGeady (even though less than half of his goals were set up by McGeady) then surely it stands to reason that McGeady assists will also dry up?

get a grip. How would you have felt at the start of the season you knew we’d have a 30 goal striker? You’d be delighted. You wouldn’t care about the deficiencies in his game as scoring is all that matters. Unless it’s Wyke in which case nothing would be good enough seemingly.

Complete knacker. Absolutely. 30 goals is never enough!!!

He had a good season.

But his lack of overall ability has stifled our creativity and I believe is one of the reason for our lack of goals around the team. I'd be happier with a striker getting 15 goals but his overall play (movements to create space for others and hold up play in particular) being better than Wyke.

His goal return last year was admirable but lest not kid ourselves, he's a cart horse even in league 1. Nothing against the lad he's just limited and won't be missed

Look at it another way how many clubs are queuing up to buy our 30 goal striker?

Spot on. His hold up play is poor, rarely brings anyone else into play,he gets caught offside far too often,he concedes a free kick almost every time he challenges, particularly in the air. If you give it to him 5 or 6 yards across the goal, he'll get something on it....an ankle,a knee,a shin,....and in it goes,....although I will say, credit to him.. he has got a few headers in aswell from more or less the same distance.
Put him in an attacking position on the last man, where he has to control the ball, move his feet and hit the target.....he's dogshit!
