I don't subscribe to all the Grealish frothing but the one thing he may prevent is us constantly passing back as soon as we feel any pressure from a quality attack like this Italian side.

If he gets on the pitch...

...and we'd need to get the ball off them first.

    Italy. Zero pace. Zero.

All fine and that but let's see that happens next.

I felt Turkey were very negative in outlook and set up and ran themselves into the ground as they simply sat so deep they never had the ball to make italy work.

You mean against Switzerland and Wales? Yeh I can see them being really troubled there.

Disagree about the pace btw, they were playing against a side sitting back. What they showed today was they pressed well and in numbers and closed down very well. And they beat the Turks to every ball.

We may not find out for a while. If they top the group (which looks likely especially as they're playing all their games in Rome), they have a fairly easy route to the semi-final iirc.

Still needs to pass the ball more for me. He holds onto the ball that extra second or two which is how he wins so many fouls but it can stop the flow of attacks.

saying that he has to start for England given he has the ability to get on the ball abs move forward with it. Given our only real threat of scoring under Southgate is via set pieces he could be crucial

Guess I should qualify my statement by added their cbs witnessed the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs.

Someone will run through them like laxatives in the knockouts
