It doesn't matter its not safe or never will be safe and you can't eliminate accidents and human error.

If eliminating accidents completely is the criteria then absolutely everything in life is dangerous. Living is dangerous. Sleeping is dangerous. Being in your house is dangerous. Watching Tv is dangerous. Taking a bath is dangerous. Boiling a kettle is dangerous.

<doh>

I don't even need to look at numbers to know that if I'm moving at 70mph im in danger

Too many nancy boys. Risk is part of life, get the **** on with it.

People's answer to any kind of risk seems to be stop doing anything and live in your house. This whole "one death is one too many" attitude with everything is for pussies.

If the drivers could stop being ****s, the risk would reduce and that's good enough for me.

I agree there's no argument there.. We can reduce it, but unfortunately the roads can never be safe because the laws of physics tell me if I hit a brick wall at 70 mph in going to be in serious trouble

Then don't hit a ****ing brick wall at 70mph!!!!! There is no need to. It isn't compulsory.

Senna wasn't driving on a public road. He was taking part in a sport where he was driving on the limit. Nobody should ever drive on the limit on a public road.

Something went wrong with his car though, so I refer you to mechanical failure.

If only he wasn't such a crap driver

Yeah just don't have an accident.

Maybe we should just replace 999 with that sentence and save the NHS a fortune

No - don't break the law. If you hit a brick wall at 70mph then you are almost certainly speeding and speeding excessively. Any road with a speed limit of 70mph is a high speed dual carriageway or motorway, and high speed dual carriageways and motorways MUST have barriers in place to prevent vehicles hitting solid objects. You would hit a safety barrier at 70 mph not a wall if you were driving legally. Those barriers are designed to cushion the impact of any high speed crash.

Yes, and he was driving on the limit. That is why he was unable to compensate for the mechanical failure. When driving on public roads you should always drive in such a way that you can compensate for mechanical failure. It's in the highway code!

So you're saying that the only possible way you can crash into a wall at 70 mph is is you're speeding?

I believe that the speed limit is 70 mph on many roads that have concrete walls and overpasses above then

Aye you driving in toon Town where everything is made of marshmallow or something?

So you're suggesting that nobody has ever had a mechanical failure on Britain's roads unless they were breaking the law?

Seriously are you drinking?

The only roads in the UK with a speed limit of 70mph are motorways and high speed dual carriageways. By law those roads must have safety barrier preventing you from hitting any solid object. When it is impossible to install those barriers then the speed limit should be reduced to 60, or preferably 50.

Are you saying if it's not a brick wall you're in some way better off?

Where the **** did you get that from? I never said anything like that. Now I know you're trolling and deliberately being a dick.

What I said is that you should always drive in such a way that if you were to have mechanical failure you should be in a position to bring your vehicle to a safe stop.

You're trying to suggest that driving is safe if you remove the idiots and you're just wrong mate.

You cannot remove human error or accidents.

You're getting a bit touchy rather than just say Hmmm yes I can see you've got a big point.

Driving is very dangerous even if there's nobody on the road... You can die at 30 mph

I'm not getting touchy. I genuinely disagree with you.
