Well clearly I was naive to trust this Govt having a plan.

But there should have been one in place. It's based on this, or it should have been. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/responding-to-a-uk-flu-pandemic

So it's not something that came 'out of the dark ages' or only happens in history books. The UK has had direct experience of dealing with outbreaks in the past. "The National Risk Register of Civil Emergencies (NRR) identifies that emerging infectious diseases could also cause large numbers of people to become ill. The UK has experience of managing cases of high consequence infectious diseases (HCIDs) and in recent years has managed confirmed cases of Lassa fever, Ebola, MERS and monkeypox."

The wider world has also dealt with Ebola, HIV, SARS, Avian Flu etc, so pandemic planning is not the unknown quantity as you're trying to suggest.

Off top of my head I forget it's name but there was a simulation done with the exact situation less than two years previous.....every government and health advisors and scientists and virologist would know the procedure.......similar to the training you get for any emergency situation really.

They failed to spend on equipment that is required in such a situation and they got found out.

I think Corbyn knew about it, but he forgot to tell Starmer, who then couldn't pass on the info to Boris. Ahhhhhh unless Starmer did know, and hid it from Boris. Good theory that bro, i like your thinking. <ok>

Ew iz stupid

No mate. These things haven't happened since the dark ages.

Nobody knows what a pandemic looks like <whistle>

So have a lot of thing's but still doesn't mean things don't change and new training is required.......which i know they do.

In other news, and because there is no where else to put it, anyone seen the news where Dr Christian Jessen has to payout £125k for comments about Arlene Foster on twitter. What a numpty. <laugh>
Interesting case that one tbf.

He made the defamatory remarks (that were untrue) and he got called out for it. His brief told him to delete the tweet, but he refused and left it up for another 2 weeks. He claimed not to have received the legal letters as he’d moved back to his Mums as he had depression, which he couldn’t prove and it wasn’t accepted.

So he basically made a libellous tweet, got called out, refused to budge, didn’t apologise, ignored legal letters and he’s ended up with a record fine for a tweet - £125k, plus his own costs and hers, so he’s likely looking at a total bill in excess of 200 large. What a prize twat.

Yup, he's such an idiot, apart from the tweet being untrue, it became a very expensive piece of stubborness on his part.

He’s the same bloke who called COVID nothing but a bad cold, and labelled the Italians as lazy bastards for going into lockdown btw.

That's nice.
We cull everything else we can if it threatens its environment through over-population, and we've managed to intervene in nature doing the same to us. Need to let nature do it's job before it solves the human problem on a permanent basis, and in favour of cockroaches.

Anyway, the best part of yesterday for me was Cummings using the Spider-Man meme as a description of the Tory cabinet, in an actual inquiry environment.

Quality <laugh>

Yeah let’s just put all man made medicines in the bin and close every hospital and Dr’s surgery and let nature take its course.
