Next Sunderland manager/head coach.... . Grant Leadbitter. When he speaks it with honesty and integrity. He's held himself to a high standard his entire career. He's never been any thing but professional and respected and he loves the club. I saw him speak about coming back and that one motivation was the way other players hadn't less than professional here and he was determined not to allow that to continue. As for his coaching credentials I'll admit I don't know if he's done any badges etc but I believe him to have the kind of understanding of the game that translates to management. In central midfield he's had to be adept at reading the game and his history as captain almost everywhere he's played show his obvious leadership credentials. But as the title implies, its a bit of a gamble to say the least.
Really? Because the guy you see when he's talking doesn't get the armband everywhere he goes. Jovial and motivational aren't mutually exclusive.
I can only speak as I find. Maybe he’s the life and soul behind the scenes. In front of a camera, he comes across as one dimensional and uninspiring.
Maybe better suited to a behind the scenes coaching role. He’s got a huge love for the club and an obvious family connection, so I would like to see him stay on in some capacity, but maybe not as the main man.
I've got a feeling he could be part of the coaching staff next year, unless this Boro link is confirmed?
too quiet like Lee, a Barton and Keane combo would do the trick but they would probably nutting each other when we lose !.
why?? he's not a coach. should we make Monty manager? should we make Bally our director of football? ****ing delusional on here sometimes.
Got if off ya Mar. Ona serious note calm down just a glancing thought to make conversation on a forum.
I predict he will be part of our coaching staff next year. I believe you haven't looked passed the local lad aspect of the idea and went off on one. We are a league 1 club with a new structure above managerial level in place. GL is club captain and in recent weeks been active in the technical area and on more and more media duty. If LJ was to leave I'd be happy for us to promote from within and looking at the things I've mentioned I don't think it's too delusional.
I certainly like the idea of intelligent people with a love for the club being involved behind the scenes. Whether that's Grant or not who knows, when he's got his coaching badges and applies for a job we'll see.
As I said I've got no idea to his coaching status but if he was sufficiently qualified I'd be happy with the idea.
Neither have I mate. I'd be surprised if it wasn't something he was interested in though. Seems a natural progression for him.
If your looking at and ex midfield Catts would be more of a motivater. That said we need a sure thing really. LJ still in job so have to back him 100% until day he leaves. When he goes it look at recent player like we did with Keane. Not sure who but someone to give us a lift. Signings wouldn't be issue as have structure in place. If not that route maybe someone from abroad unknown to league.
