As a working man you only have your own personal pride and morals ric and as you say some don’t
I know where i stand
I’ve just gone through a load of **** at work and no one stood by me
Yet those same people knew I would and have backed them
And I’d do it again
Well you'll know what to do it they ever need your support...Bastards!

i dont know how anyone can justify his and players of his era's wages compared to nurses teachers etc

ok so he's on a fraction of what players can earn today.
doesn't make it right. its insane.

Teachers must be on plenty. One on here never travels by train as he goes on private planes.

As a teacher I earn a modest salary and I don’t ask for much. I pay my way in life and that’s me.

As a private citizen, I hoard wealth and as a result I’m unashamedly filthy rich. Got a Scrooge McDuck swimming pool filled with quids and everything.

I have
It’s up to others to decide whether they’re happy with current situation or not, but you certainly can’t seriously moan about players salaries if you do have them

See Bpool paid tribute to the young local nipper struck by lightening, even if he was a LFC fan.

Fair play to them, even if the kid was not a fan of theirs .

Least Neville invested lots of that money in the football club, his hotels, the university, etc which now employs local people.
He does show elements of humanity. I don't think there's a lot wrong with achieving a lot in the system you work within but then when you are In a position to, try to change that system. His hotel chain also started the campaign to give frontline workers free accommodation when the pandemic was at it's worst. I believe he was also the England team unofficial shop steward when he was playing.
It's the ****s who take the money and take the piss out of the sport and fans

At what point do you have enough cash. Your assumption that we are all fed by a cash wonderlust is your opinion and clearly based on yourself.
There's a good question. It is true for many of us that we'd suddenly find our ideals once we had 10m in the bank. I certainly would.

Then you can look at your extended family and sort them out too. Pay their mortgages, holidays, fancy educations, all that good stuff.

But by turning down that kind of money, you'd be denying them the opportunity to just enjoy life.

My lad just told me about Spurs charging fans 60 quid for the Villa game!! And 30 for kids!!
Well you would wouldn’t you it’s the right thing to Dom
**** em silly ****s will pay it so it’s ok
Same club who tried to claim government cash to furlough their staff, despite ridiculous their ridiculous turnover. And some are having a go at players for trying to screw clubs by high salary demands.
Its recognised now that actual match day revenue is just a small part of a clubs income.

Am I wrong then?

I'm a very driven person but it's driven to reach the best I can possibly be at whatever it is I'm doing, in turn that may bring money and opportunities and if it does, no I won't turn them down.
Absolutely no problem with driven people and rewards for that effort. Reach out by all means. You remind me of my daughter. I’ll try clarify my point. A ten grand difference makes a lot of difference. Going from 10 mill a year to 15 mill a year is just more on top of what should already be an incredible living. A rise of pay way lower down the scale is a lot more relative.

And I understand this Kempton but once you have looked after them with the hope they still understand the value of money do we really need to keep stocking up when fans can not afford to attend.

Unfortunately the system in the public sector is not generally geared to the most capable receiving the financial rewards they deserve. Probably why some of the most capable workers leave the sector. Many do actually measure reward in a non financial way.

One of the many reasons I would never work in the public sector

Do you still have the solid gold stegosaurus in your third garage?

Somewhat ironic, that players from the era that probably contributed more to the demise of football than any other, are now turning, but as long as the outcome's right...

Coalition of ex-pros and pundits back independent regulation

Posted on 17th May 2021

A coalition of ex-players, pundits and media figures are the latest to call for substantial reform and the creation of an independent regulator.

Led principally by former Manchester United defender and England international Gary Neville, the group are calling on supporters to sign their petition calling for the introduction of independent regulation.

At the time of writing, the petition had reached 85,000 signatures and looks set to trigger a Parliamentary debate when it passes 100,000 signatories.

Neville said: “There is one big opportunity now in this next few months to influence the outcome of English football and create a fairer game for all.

“I urge you: if you hated me as a player, if you dislike me as a pundit just to listen to me this one time and sign this petition which will bring in independent regulation and transparency at the top of the game we all love.”

The petition is also being supported by former players Jamie Carragher, Rio Ferdinand, Darren Fletcher, Gary Lineker, Jamie Redknapp and Micah Richards.

Media figures such as FSA Writer of the Year Henry Winter are also backing Fair Game’s petition. The Fair Game letter was also signed by FSA vice-chair Tom Greatrex.

“As the fan-led review gets underway, it is hugely significant to have the active support of high profile pundits and ex-players to improve football governance for the future,” Tom said.

“The spectre of a breakaway closed shop Super League has united all of those who wish to protect our game.

“Regulatory oversight that is independent of clubs has long been part of the FSA’s proposals, and it now has widespread support. It is time for those fundamental changes to protect, enhance and sustain the game to be made.”

How about an outside the box idea, Kick out all those who were signing up for the Euro Super League and have a reset of the game in England.

I'd be more than confident that the family and friends I'd look to 'sort out' would use their money wisely. If they didn't, I'd spend the rest on a new striker. That'd learn em :emoticon-0178-rock:

there is insane amounts of greed in the game today. thats before any proposal of a superleague.

my point is if he feels the need to speak out about greed it would be nice to have heard him anytime during the last decade or two.
