Still cannot understand why the wall hasn’t fallen down or what the **** is keeping it up lol. Still very much open, darkest pub I’ve ever been in...did a poetry open mic night in there, lot of purple haired veggies in the audience.
My brother in law came up with the idea of table service when you’ve used a mobile phone app. Said if he bought a pub he’d introduce that. It was a good few years ago, we all fell about the place laughing, told him that would never work, who’s ****ing laughing now eh !!!!
I drink in a variety of establishments If I’m taking a bird out she’s getting a double Hendricks gin n tonic in the wethers She’s getting half a lager in all the other establishments round town! Unless she wants to brave ebeneezers
Over here in Lincs I'm surrounded by Sam Smiths pubs; in the days before I knew better I used to drink lager, the Sam Smiths stuff, Alpine Ayingerbrau, would have me chundering no matter how little of the bastard stuff I supped - it was terrible gear; thing is, those hardened to Smiths ales won't drink anywhere else and can't understand how anyone could dislike it!
I also drink in other places. Wetherspoons because that's where I go before city games. Can't see how to change my name so I'm stuck with it now. The admiral is bloody awful.
Batemans have some great beers - my local pubs are mostly Sams though, fortunately my non-drinking Mrs is happy to drive to a proper boozer a few miles away!
I used to go for a few games of pool in Bluebell when I was in my 20s. I vaguely recall the pilsner was drinkable if a little bit salty. The base lager was piss, but not as bad as when you bought it in Spiders. These days I'm a triple ipa or porter fan, so not gojng to head in and test it any time soon.
Fair play to them for trying. No matter what happens, they will learn form the experience and who knows they could be in the right place at the right time. I have met loads of pub tenants who have gone into the trade with no experience. Ex-coppers, footballers, even a couple of bus drivers, who all liked the idea and went full tilt into running pubs. Spain was full of ex-pats who have done the same. I just hope that they can get their credit lines right and don't put their homes on the line for it.
The man's a proper nutter... https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money...hief-fined-30-000-fobbing-watchdog-probe.html
Been in a couple of decent Wetherspoons. One in Warwick and one in Stratford. Rather different to ones round here. Never been overly impressed with ones locally.
