Just out of interest you expect us to sign 2 new CB this summer. Are you expecting us to buy anyone else on top of that?
A lot of assumptions here. On Konate, that: a) he's ours, and b) he turns out to not be Keita. And also that the others can go all season without being injured. I honestly think you're going on what you'd like to happen, as opposed to what you think is likely to.
Yes mate, we will need to buy another CM and attacker. Hence it's important that we have bring in maximum funds which means selling players like Phillips who have value but not future at the club. Don't get me wrong, if we didn't need to sell to buy I'd be all for keeping him as a 6-7th choice back up. But we don't operate like that. Hence I rather sell him because his value will not be any higher than it is now and he has no future, and buy a defender who has a higher ceiling, better suited to us and has potential to become a starting CB for us in the long run. Buying Kabak for £18m and selling Phillips for £10m (hypothetical of course) is a no brainer for me. Kabak ticks a lot of boxes and is ultimately better suited to us. We've made the same mistake with the likes of Origi and Wilson. We can't afford to keep making the same mistakes.
