After Palace, we should never see him starting for us again. We should have enough options before we ever have to use him.If he does, then we have failed in our recruitment.

Just out of interest you expect us to sign 2 new CB this summer. Are you expecting us to buy anyone else on top of that?

If we do our business well, we could effectively swap Phillips with Kabak. We'd be getting a better centre back, better suited to us, younger and has more potential. And is someone who can be rotated in and willing to wait and sit on the bench

And assuming Matip is sold, then even more reason to have a better choice to provide back up to Konate, Gomez and VVD.
A lot of assumptions here.
On Konate, that: a) he's ours, and b) he turns out to not be Keita.
And also that the others can go all season without being injured.
I honestly think you're going on what you'd like to happen, as opposed to what you think is likely to.

All we have in this life is hope ... and hopefully some good quality centre backs.

Yes mate, we will need to buy another CM and attacker. Hence it's important that we have bring in maximum funds which means selling players like Phillips who have value but not future at the club.

Don't get me wrong, if we didn't need to sell to buy I'd be all for keeping him as a 6-7th choice back up. But we don't operate like that. Hence I rather sell him because his value will not be any higher than it is now and he has no future, and buy a defender who has a higher ceiling, better suited to us and has potential to become a starting CB for us in the long run. Buying Kabak for £18m and selling Phillips for £10m (hypothetical of course) is a no brainer for me. Kabak ticks a lot of boxes and is ultimately better suited to us.

We've made the same mistake with the likes of Origi and Wilson. We can't afford to keep making the same mistakes.
