Even at £214k per annum, compared to their zilch costs, at the same ground, with similar gates, in the same city for the same police force I think we are getting the ****ty end of the stick don't you ?
He did manage to chip a bit of money back to the council, now the SMC is adding about 2 million a year to the debt. What's changed?
Not fair not fair yeh you're right but that's the difference between the RL and the FA or could Hull City also refuse to pay the policing? There is much more money in football than rugby. I still think the Allams are playing games over the SMC and it's running costs. Show me i'm wrong. I doubt Adam Pearson would quote those figures in the HDM if it were untrue, 700,000 to hold 5 games with no fans, if Hull City paid the same rate the SMC would be loaded.
Maintenance costs of a 20 year old stadium in the 2020's as opposed to a Brand new one under warranty in the 2000s?
If Pearson wishes to have an equal tenancy with city then then FC should pay 50% towards the running costs of the stadium. If he's looking at an alternative stadium then it's a simple matter to give gateshead council a call. They've got a decent one.
Pearson doesn't wasn't to put his hand in his pocket and subsidise FC anymore. Only reason this row is happening is 'cos he can't sell it and get his money back so he's trying to renegotiate the FC lease to make it more attractive to buyers under the cover of stretched covid finances. The trump-like act of threatening to mobilise the tubby lards against the SMC and (I assume) the council carries no legal weight whatsoever. It speaks volumes to me that this appears to be a tactic at this stage. Maybe he doesn't like the look of the new council now he's lost his pal, Brady. He' s made far more of HIS wealth out of HCAFC and this city than the SMC bill last year cost him. He's just whinging cos he's had to put his hand in his own, rather than someone else's pocket for once. Sad to see desperate tactics from a man I held in the highest regard once.
That's true and if the present charges are not covering the cost then all parties should be paying more.
Must have come down then. After the Millwall Cup game trouble the next league game saw an overwhelming police presence and City being stung with a a £60,000 bill. The HDM said as that only 132 Millwall fans turned up it would have been cheaper to bring them all up by taxi with an officer in each one. Apparently City were charged considerably more for policing games when we were in the PL than Arsenal whose crowds were 3 times as large.
He made arrangements which benefitted FC financially which is ironic given the hatred towards AP from AP at the time. The agreements about which club has preference at the end of their season are still the ones brought in back then. AP approached the FC chairman proposing the both ran the SM . But the council wanted a bond and the FC chairman didn't have the funds. AP had access to enough due to his mate and so got sole control. Wouldn't have been a problem if HCC had at the time anyone they regarded as capable of running the SMC, which would have been the logical thing, but it seems they didn't. Maybe Geraghty could have done it?
I think the £60k for the Millwall is an urban myth, the most we've paid for a game in recent times is £24,835.42 for a game against the Blunts, then Leeds (£22,667.27), Birmingham City (£21,579) and Sheffield Wednesday (£17,562.65). For some reason, the London clubs pay naff-all, Arsenal's is the highest at £55k and Palace only paid £7.5k. Leeds pay about half a million and the Manchester clubs both pay well above half a million, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the amounts different clubs pay.
Clubs who paid the most Club // Amount Manchester United // £625,236 Manchester City // £595,822 Liverpool // £590,739 Leeds United // £459,798 Everton // £405,778 Rangers // £306,770 Sunderland // £288,419 Birmingham City // £269,248 Aston Villa // £267,415 Wolverhampton Wanderers // £264,607 Leicester City // £258,858 Bournemouth // £239,582 Celtic // £227,361 Sheffield Wednesday // £217,286 Sheffield United // £216,566 Hull City // £214,749 West Bromwich Albion // £213,906 Wembley // £203,389 Derby County // £200,748 Huddersfield Town // £187,435 It's got the figures mentioned above too. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/spo...ews/hull-city-humberside-police-costs-3624093
Hmm, I wonder who negotiated this deal? Council only got £16 a week for £46m Hull City* stadium A COUNCIL which spent £46m on building a landmark sports stadium received only £16 a week in lease payments last year In total, the council has received just £47,846 over the period but paid more than £500,000 to rent office space in its own stadium. *Community https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/new...got-ps16-week-ps46m-hull-city-stadium-1923904
Also that the SMC tried to take FC to court last year for £200k due to breaking tenancy rules about playing in front of an empty stadium. Couldn't make it up! From looking at the images of the KCOM last night, it definitely hasn't been maintained. It is absolutely disgusting, the seats filthy, no running water in the toilets in the South and East stands, trickles of warm water in the North stand. So if FC did pay 700k last year, and only ended up playing 5 games, what did all of the money go on? The pitch from looking at the images last night is immaculate, so why is it being replaced?
