    Ridiculous situation that was.

Imagine not having the champions of the European Cup defend it.<laugh>

Makes a complete mockery of it.

Point taken, and it's not as clear cut as I first thought (which presumably makes the wording of this offence more valid). Still think it benefits certain teams more however. Another point however is that it's almost impossible for the ref to see if a certain player is actually obstructing line of sight. He'd have to be directly in line with nobody in the way to see it, and a lino can't see as they would be perpendicular to the players so certainly would be unable to judge if someone was in front of another from their angle. Hence VAR should probably, in these circumstances, have more of a role than simply 'clear and obvious' (which they seem to ignore when it suits them anyway).

    Stats incoming ...

Due to fixture 'entanglement' , the results histograms (bin count, final pts) are for

    Chelsky :

    3 64
    6 65
    3 66
    6 67
    6 68
    3 70

    Lesta :

    1 66
    2 67
    1 68
    2 69
    2 70
    1 72

    Spurs :

    3 59
    7 60
    4 61
    5 62
    6 63
    2 65

So a Chelsky finish on 65/67/68 pts, Lesta on 67/69/70, Spurs on 60/63,
    would not be a surprise.

It's a clear and obvious error. The keeper's view of the ball isn't obstructed from the header, as the player in front of him isn't 8'6".

If you get the same UEFA ranking pts per match result,
then any of the PL usual suspects have to treat it exactly
as they do the EL proper (in addition to match time for the squad) .

Gianluigi Donnarumma made his 250th competitive appearance for Milan last night. He's 22.

He won't make too many more, by all accounts

Anyway, who's looking forward to the riots when he signs for Juve on a free?

Milan have supposedly agreed a deal with Lille to sign Maignan for €15m if he does go, which would be a good replacement.
Lots of rumours that Hakan Calhanoglu might be joining Donnarumma at Juve on another free though, so that would be a disaster.

But I was wondering if the fact that someone else actually scored it makes a difference? In other words the guy that had the header (shot), the view of which was obstructed or not (depending on your point of view), actually didn't have a shot it was a pass because someone else finished it off. The guy that actually scored was not obscured at all.

It's not obstructed, though. You can clearly see from the side angle that Alisson's got a clear view of the ball 100%.
He doesn't even think that his view's being obstructed himself, as he points to Bartley and the linesman, wrongly thinking that he's offside.
It's a ridiculous call from the VAR twats, as usual. Kevin "Football" Friend doing another **** job.

It's like the refs enjoy being **** at their jobs

For the past eighteen months they've had video replays and a lack of crowds baying for blood after their calls, the two things which have long been said to impede them from doing the best job they can, yet what happens? They seem to take the lack of crowds baying for their blood as a reason to make whatever decision they want on VAR calls

Looking at that again Jthink his view of the ball is obstucted as it passes behind the WBA player to get to Bartley, but that does not stop him playing the ball as he couldn't get to it anyway. So it was a clear error to disallow the goal.
Another Law with ambiguous wording though. It should say a player is penalised if the defending player would have been able to intercept the ball if his view had not been obstructed.

Goodbye Harry goodbye! How much will City,United,Liverpool and Chelsea pay for him? He wants to stay in the PL so it will be one of that 4.

Chelsea won’t happen because of the rivalry, Liverpool won’t pay the fee and Utd would be a risky move if he wants trophies. City is the only feasible move I can see and will give him a big pay rise and the trophies he craves.

One thing though, is winning a league title at City a massive achievement these days when they win it most years anyway
