Can’t defend Arteta anymore. He’s been given a chance and it hasn’t worked. I know the squad is far from perfect but even with the players we’ve got, he should be performing far better than that.

I would take Rafa to steady the ship for a couple of seasons.

Benitez makes the most sense - if he went to a soon-to-be-relegated Newcastle, and worked under Ashley, surely he would relish this opportunity. Rafa for 1-2 seasons to stop the rot.

Not to mention - hes actually available and recently said he wants to manage in the premier league again.

Shame there wasn't a lot to play for tonight, but a decent performance nonetheless.

As @BrunelGunner said, Saka at LWB is a decent option. He was immense down that left side tonight.

Good to see Willian finally getting a goal too.

Hopefully we can win a couple more of our remaining games and at least finish the season on a positive note, before we go into a huge summer where some big decisions need to be made about the direction of this club.

We could win all our remaining games and it wouldn't be a positive note.

Yeah but you're a miserable **** so that figures. :bandit:

In all seriousness, I won't make it a positive season, but it would be nice to at least see us finish on a positive note.

Winning our remaining prem games would mean about as much as winning a preseason friendly. Winning games when the pressure is off. Woo hoo. We've been the masters of that for years.

    Wow you're a cynical old git <laugh>

I know it doesn't have any bearing on this season now, I'm just saying that it would be good to see us win some of our remaining games.

In much the same way as it's objectively good that England win friendlies. But barely anyone gives a **** whether they do or not.

To be honest, I get what you're saying, and I do agree with both you and Piskie in different ways. But I still want us to do as well as we can, even if they are meaningless games in the grand scheme of things. I'd like us to beat Chelsea on Wednesday (not just because I hate the bastards) and try and finish as high as we can.

I hate seeing us sit in 9th place with no prospects. And even though there's realistically no chance of us getting into Europe, I still want us to try and get a spot while it's still mathematically possible.
When West Brom scored yesterday, even though it had no bearing on our season, it still bothered me. Unfortunately, I still care a lot about this club <laugh>.

That being said, I'd like Arteta to start using players that he plans on using for next season too, so no more Ceballos, Bellerin etc. And I'd like to see an incorporation of more of our promising youth prospects. He should be using these games to plan for the 2021-22 campaign.

I really don’t like the amount of backpasses we play. It really is ridiculous.

Always good to do the Chavs.

I know it doesn’t count for much this season, but that’s the first time we’ve done the double over them since our last title winning season back in 03/04

Painful to watch tonight, but it's always nice to beat Chelsea. Rode our luck a little, though.

We rarely win at Stamford Bridge, so will take it, even if it means nothing in the context of this season.

If there's some consolation from this whole campaign though, we have sent Allardyce down and we've dented Chelsea's top 4 hopes somewhat.

I thought we played with a real dogged attitude, yes we rode our luck but we also defended in numbers and put our bodies on the line.... good performance!

Yup. Win ugly, win beautiful. I don’t really care. I thought that performance showed another side to us last night.

With a bit of better finishing we could have scored another couple as well.

And yes we rode our luck, but so what.

3 points at Stamford bridge shows we can do it.

Partey and Smith Rowe had great games last night. Emile was our mian outlet.

Feel bad for Auba though - last few games he's actually looking sharp again but we are creating soo little he's not getting chances.
