Yes you said that before, so the question yet again is how can anybody stop that 'attitude'?, threaten them with violence?, make them face the wall?, tell their parents?.
Too many of these players have displayed the same attitude far too often under LJ, Holden and now Pearson. Please tell me how that can possibly be achieved by players who have proved for 2 seasons now that they don't give a ****.
I would have thought any intelligent footballer would be busting a gut to either secure a new contract or to attract a good offer from a new club, sadly some of our pussies seem to be brain dead.

Not sure why you keep bringing up LJ & Holden. And to be fair I didn't notice quite the same contempt shown by the players as was noticed by the Millwall player as many of our fans.
NP's his own man and much more experienced than we've had with a personality that I imagined wouldn't have stood for such behaviour....No I wouldn't expect violence, which solves nothing in any society or encourage your childish solution.....But I would have him at the very least to drop them for future games, threaten any position at the club next season and in any way possible, make their life in the game very difficult .....Comes across to me, NP isn't the disciplinarian he's made out to be.....or so I thought, last thing we need is a soft touch.....let's hope he isn't because we will be in trouble for the future..

It was impossible to not be aware of this story. I said to the players today that that's like the school bully giving you the Chinese burn that you're not expecting. We have to take it on the chin. Because our comeback to that has to be how we play this week. People have their opinions on it. It's a difficult observation to take on board. The worst thing about it is the added comment that we have good players. I think that puts some context on how other people see us. We have to do something about it.

“Mentally we’re very strong – you can only achieve something with the right mentality.

“The last game, Bristol were gone, they looked like they wanted to go on holidays already. They didn’t care, I’m sorry. I think they were the worst team we’ve played against this season.

“They’ve got decent players and a decent squad. Sometimes it’s hard. I’m not saying it’s easy for us to play every single game with that mentality.



I was hoping for an improvement to the mentality of the players by NP......TBH with his experience I expected more.....

I'm hoping he's let it go on purpose, (players digging their own grave) to help with his decision making for next season...

I was hoping for an improvement in mentality too, but to be fair, with such a small squad available, many of which will be OOC soon there really isn’t much NP can do. We just have to be thankful we managed to stay in the championship. NP needs now to be allowed, and be supported by SL, to build his own squad. We also have to get the medical side of the club right so that NP has them available for selection rather than having so many unavailable due to badly managed injuries.

Nothing can be ensured but principles can be defined, expectations defined. When players do not meet expectations drop them. A standard approach.

Famara Diedhiou has never bust a gut for Bristol City. His form at the end of his contract was predictable. The biggest (?) earner gets his place in the XI regardless of performance. What principle was upheld by selecting this effort shy player? What example does it set? How does any of that improve the performance of others?

His constant selection was 3 fold.

1. Pearson had to convince SL and at least 50% of the fanbase that he was unworthy of a new contract, SL especially brainwashed by his favourite son Ashton, that he was a good player and worthy of a new contract, probably because of how much he cost us. To a degree it has worked the offer from Middlesborough is apparently less than he is on now and he has to move to Middlesborough (double whammy).

2. Pearson is hoping that championship suitors will see him for what he actually is, he doesn't like the thought of him or others going to championship rival.

3. With the injury list striking options are very limited, an area like full backs and midfield sadly neglected for so long.

Spot on for once, he had 3 choices, do what he has done, drop them or let the medical team loose on them.

I mention them because they were both sacked because results were not good enough, which means the players were not performing, so far we only won 2 more games last season than this, they were crap last season and far worse this season.
I made my childish comment to try to force home the fact that all the encouragement in the world would be insufficient for more than a few in this squad, as for the highlighted portion most of that has been enacted.
The last portion is utter nonsense and believe me certain players already know that and that number runs into double figures.

You are just plain wrong, the reason some fans like him is despite his many failings he does give his all , and has been our top score the last few years. That’s why recently it has been obvious he’s stopped, I put it down to no fans as he does respond to, and at times gee the fans up. In regards to why NP keeps playing him, you’ll have to ask him , but I would guess he wants to play with a focal point up front and we don’t have too many other options, along with the fact we have so few in the team who score goals, now we’ve secured safety it’s right he doesn’t play, but it a sad way to end his stay at our club.

Your point 2 confuses me . If as you say NP believes he’s that bad(which I assume is what’s meant by “seeing him for what he really is”), why would he be reluctant for him to go to championship rivals ?

I actually agree with @Cliftonville's assessment of Diedhiou. For a big man he is weak and goes down far too easily, rarely holds the ball up to relieve pressure on his defence, his distribution is poor, he never once gambles to make his move early he stands like a wheelie bin for the ball to arrive. He takes up poor positions in the opponents box rarely in the danger area, at set pieces he is always behind his marker and rarely tries to pull away leaving space for others, the near post is a complete mystery to him and finally he is always at least a yard behind low balls into the 6 yard box and he hides.

However might make a good centre back, his defensive work is his best asset.

I don’t disagree with much of your assessment, but Cliftons point was he doesn’t try hard , that’s what I disagreed with, IMO he has limited ability but does try.

I can only assume that he fears a fan backlash, because of the Knowle dwellers, strange popularity amongst fans.

I think his popularity is , apart from recently when he’s stopped for whatever reason, fans do think he tries, and cares, where many of our players don’t appear to

Has the player been giving his all for the last few months? If he stopped the player can't have been giving his all. That is no fighter mentality.

A way of altering mindset is change. If a player does not demonstrate a core value i.e. hard work selecting the player logically undermines the team values.

Sorry we will have to agree to disagree, I have always considered him lazy, he is predictable and when things are not going his way he is rash a likely to get sent off, there have been several incidents this season where he has been very lucky with lunges and swinging arms.

Well I certainly believe point 1 and 3 are answers, after all for point 1 SL would have to agree to not offer him a contract and you would expect the motivation would be show us you are worth a new contract or 2 show suitors you worth investing in. And point 2 is valid because we only have a few options, especially given Semenyo's lack of form recently. Using the academy strikers sparingly is a good practice for this part of the season, hopefully it will encourage them for next season and what they can achieve and secondly as was shown on Saturday Conway (who is a huge talent) scored a great goal but missed a crucial easier chance to put us ahead and Millwall players targeted him after that and he was subjected to some really hefty challenges, the academy players do not need prolonged exposure to the negativity within the squad.
