I fear the quietness and the fact that electric cars are a lot quicker accelerating will lead to more accidents !

Would like to be able to afford an electric car. But unless the Govt put their money where there mouth is and heavily subsidise it, then I’m gonna have to stick with my old Dino diesel beast for a bit longer.

They’re only silent at low speed. It’s ridiculously fast mind. All wheel drive. It pulls and pulls and pulls. We have a speed run here where you can’t get stopped unless followed by an unmarked capper. At 70% acceleration it knocked the **** out of my 3ltr v6 by 10mph more. I reckon at full tilt it will do an extra 25mph by the same marker.

They reduced the subsidy literally overnight a couple of weeks back. It was 3 large against anything sub 50k. It’s now 2.5k with a limit of 35k, which is a total ****ter as I’ve been contemplating a VW ID 4, I was just waiting to drive one.

I've been looking at getting an electric car but it just seems unrealistic right now for a host of reasons

So puts the 2030 deadline very much in doubt then ?

The Govt talk big about an electric revolution, but the reality is that unless you've got some big beans to throw at it, then most people can't afford to buy one right now. There are some decent hybrids on the market too. But for this to really take off the Govt need to incentivise people to switch from petrol and diesel.

It will have to happen eventually I suppose, if the Govt stick to their pledge to stop producing Petrol and Diesel cars by what is it 2030 ?

They seem very expensive .
A guy at work had a Corsa on a monthly payment thing ( not sure which one ) from his mate who worked at Vauxhall for £99 a month .
Usually £129.
I looked online the other week and it was more than double that for all electric
