I despair at the prices for Lincoln Handicap contenders in the current era. Favourites at about 4/1 are so skinny for a race of this nature and I seem to recall Cataldi winning as 10/1 Favourite for Guy Harwood back in the day.

The distance and ground combination would seem against Brentford Hope, a one time Derby hope with soft ground form. As I write this he has just come out the race. Eastern World was a much bigger price before winning in Meydan and no doubt the echoes of Auxerre in 2019 for the same connections are driving his price down. The worry for me is that he was 8/1 after that win and has halved in price without doing anything since. Is his chance really twice as good as it was then?

I refuse to get involved at single figures and I had an ante-post play on Grove Ferry at 20/1, based on a generally progressive profile and the fact that his rating was sufficient to ensure that he got in. He's up 5lbs but has a claimer on this time taking that 5lbs off in effect. All that and he's still bloody 20/1 and totally unfancied. I remain hopeful of a place so 18/1 for seven places each-way seemed fair enough.

3.10 Doncaster Grove Ferry 20/1 win only and 18/1 each-way 7 places.

Good luck fellow suicide players.

Morning all...bets today:

Doncaster 3.10pm Ouzo 25/1 each way 6 places.

Newbury 3.25pm Lilly Pedlar 9/1 each way 4 places. Put in quite a promising effort at Taunton last time out to a mare who recently took her chance at the festival. That was on heavy ground which I don't think suited and on today's good to soft ground this will be much more to her liking. I think this has been the aim for a while - big chance and my strongest bet of the two.
Good luck all! :emoticon-0167-beer:
7th :emoticon-0149-no: and 3rd..:emoticon-0148-yes::emoticon-0167-beer:

7 places and mine finishes 8th. Easy for the Gosden horse, there is no better trainer in the game and now there are two of them.Who's the Thady?

Go on, I'll bite .............. Surely not?

I said the Gosden horse wouldnt be winning!
I honestly thought if it was that good they wouldnt have the claimer on but he is a very good lad and I guess in a competitive handicap you take every pound that you can get. Historically I dont think the stats are good for claiming jockeys in the Lincoln.

Ah ok!
Historically MY stats for the Lincoln are grim too - - Haqeeqy my first winner in 50 odd years of trying <laugh>

This Benoit De La Sayette looks destined to go to the top, Gosdens first apprentice for a long time tells you everything, cleaning up on the AW and first ride on turf put on a major Lincoln fancy and wins it handily.

Did not see this career coming with Mishriff in his early days, international dirt and turf G1 winner from 9f to 12f, European classic winner as well. Thats two top, top class Japanese 12f fillies hes done there. Loves Only You was an insane price, she looked a superstar early in her career, beat Chrono Genesis in the Japanese Oaks.

I know the feeling Grendel I took 6 places and mine finished 7th! :emoticon-0112-wonde

Francesca was very excitable and must have mentioned it at least 10 times the new John Gosden and Thady Gosden training combination. I m sure nothing has really changed but it definitely got Francesca all gooey about it..:headbang:

John Gosdens son Thady...odd name to plum for sounds rather poncey tbh..

I did have Loves Only You E/W but Oisín Murphy definitely deserves a ban for that ride... Absolutely blindsided Chrono Genesis and kept running into it on the run in. I reckon Mishriff wouldn't have won otherwise but then again, David Egan just made sure to keep him safe and away from other horses so fair play...

Well, I know that In no uncertain terms, the highlight of the day for everyone on the forum was Jonbon taking that bumper in excellent fashion at Nooberry. Even Nicolai De Boinville couldn't mess it up. The most expensive point to point recruit sold in public, for 570,000 thousand pounds, and full brother to Douvan, looked imperious again there, having previously destroyed his point opponents, the world looks his oyster if Nicky and JP let him run more than once a year.

don’t ride like a claiming / inexperienced rider , he’s top class alright , been backing him all winter on aw , cats out the bag now , can see him as dettoris replacement ....
