I’m all for peaceful protest. I’m saying that the people who hate our country enough to smash up police vehicles because they think of us as being a ‘police state’ should wake up and compare us to the REAL police states in the world. We are pretty bloody lenient - too lenient imho.
As I keep saying, so for clarity I will repeat myself. I’m in favour of peaceful protests ,and only peaceful ones, what happened outside bridewall last night was appalling, I hope they are caught and the keys thrown away
We are not talking about the policing of the event, that bit is obvious. What about stewarding to ensure social distancing? because they sure as hell won't accept it from the police FFS. We are talking about the planning, who takes responsibility when the planning is ignored? and by the way the organisers have no legal requirement, other than social distancing at present, which they ignore because they don't care. What you have stated only puts the complete onus on the shoulders of the police and none on the organisers. And at what point should the rioters expect to face the full force of the law, once they have finished or during the commission of these violent acts? It is a controversial issue because sooner or later somebody is going to get killed.
The problem is obviously not peaceful protests, it's peaceful protests that are quite obviously going to descend into violence, that is what you haven't addressed. My analogy is you cannot start a bonfire and piss off home and when it burns down a shopping mall, say "hey it's not my fault I was only responsible whilst I was there". Be honest do you think a protest organised by the Bristol anarchists federation is going to end well FFS?
We’re in danger of throwing out the baby with the bath water. It isn’t right to stop peaceful protests because unruly people may take them over, we must deal with the idiots not stop peaceful people from being able to protest. it’s like banning football because football fans may cause problems or be violent. No we cannot allow the yobs to stop the rest
You still have not offered up one alternative other than let the violence continue and deal with the fall out. Your football analogy is a false analogy because the police would not hesitate for one second to wade in with dogs, horses and crack some skulls, i'm sure that ranks as double standards.
I’ve made it very plane , allow peaceful demonstrations and deal with anyone who abuses that right with the force of the law. You on the other hand seem to suggest we follow Russia’s example and ban peaceful demonstrations Others can decide which alternative they would prefer
Firstly to correct another of your inaccuracies, I deliberately never said all and secondly do you honestly believe that most of these people are not on benefits? looks like the bar scene from star wars FFS.
Ive no idea whether they are or not, I suggest you’ve no idea either Unlike you I wouldn’t presume to judge purely on a picture alone
These are not peaceful demonstrations, they are anything but, so it's let them attack the police cause damage and mop up afterwards. No I suggest that organisers have to take their share of responsibility, thats democracy.
Good for you, I would say that my judgement is pretty sound, but hey standby again and allow mob rule again.
Again you deflect from the point. Either we allow peaceful protests and deal with those who abuse the right with the force of the law or we follow Russia’s example and ban them , you obviously side with Russia on this which is curious for someone who obviously hates lefties
It says more that you make stuff up, I have been watching it all unfold on Bristol.live, since they started reporting on it live on video feed over an hour go. But i'm sure that your version is better.
I don't deflect from the point that the inevitable conclusion will be death or life changing injuries, all because the organisers who know that the chances of violence are also inevitable, but allowed to still plan these peaceful demonstrations without any consequences whatsoever.
Can someone tell me why the guy interviewed on local TV tonight from the demo was wearing a peaked hoodie and mask. You could just about make out his eyes. Why why why, if its a peaceful demo, you need to cover your identity.
